They have 10 shaped blocks that are brightly coloured and come in a box with a lid and a handle . Then on top of the box there are shape cutouts for the blocks to go in . It's great for fine tuning motor skills , the hand eye coordination and learning to match up shapes . My nephews had this when they were babies and they really enjoyed it . I would recommend. When it comes to a baby's first toys, you want to start with the basics. This shape-sorting toy is perfect for tiny hands and has many uses too, which will help the baby's development well into their toddler and preschool years. I purchased this to use with young students to reinforce the learning of shapes, colors and pairs. It comes with 5 pairs of shapes (10 blocks in all) and a case with a removable lid with the corresponding shape cutouts. The lid is removable so you can easily lift it and take the blocks out again and the shapes drop perfectly into each hole. This is more than just a shape sorter though. You can have the child stack the blocks, count, create simple patterns, etc.. It's especially helpful for developing fine motor skills as the child learns to grasp and fit the shape into the slot. At the starting recommended age of 6 months, the child will need some assistance and guidance, but they'll be intrigued by the bright colors. As they grow, the child is better able to handle the blocks on their own, making for lots of fun play time. Some of my preschool students have used the blocks to trace shapes for art projects too. It's a versatile toy that grows along with them. I recommend every parent get this for their little ones.

Great toy! It really grows with a child. Even when my daughter was five months old, and couldn't quite place the shapes in where they belonged, she enjoyed just playing with them.

My grand son still has one of these I kept it since he was little me and him would play for hours putting the block shapes inside the shaped holes

Fisher Price Brilliant Basics Baby's First Blocks is a wonderful toy of young kiddos. Children practice identifying shapes, colors, and match them to the appropriate spot. The fun box is easy for them to clean up the shapes, and carry around the home.

Every child is different. I had this for my son, he used it off and on, but was better at tossing the shapes, and took the top off to use for storage of cars.

My sister bought this for my son as a "just cause I felt like it" toy. It is like a Montessori certified toy. Teaches the child patience, matching and alignment. Improves the child's fine motor skills.

This is one of my most favourite toys for little ones just starting to explore! The blocks are small enough for little hands, easy to hold, and are nice bright colours. If your child is somewhat advanced, you can also use it to help teach shapes and colours, though it would be a great tool for older children learning shapes and colours as well.
