I have used Listerine products for years. Listerine Mouth Wash promises to fight plaque, gingivitis and kill germs that cause bad breath.


Unfortunately, I have found many reviews/lawsuits recently that claim that the alcohols in Listerine cause a drying effect in the mouth (which is the burning sensation you feel which ultimately makes you want to spit sooner than later). Supposedly, people claim it is the drying power that naturally causes cells in the mouth to die, resulting in an increased probability of oral cancer.

Not sure what to make of these recent reviews but it definitely scared me off the product for a while!

It burns!!! Also it taste bad.

This mouthwash is just too harsh for me. It burns like crazy and I think the flavors are awful. I wouldn't recommend it to people with sensitive gums.

Listerine mouthwash, do not rinse your mouth with it to often, even if you've heard that you should use it twice a day at least. The dentist has recommended the use of other mouthwash that Listerine has alcohol in itself, as both can ruin your teeth, tooth meat with more and also it removes the good bacteria in your mouth. I do not use Listerine anymore! I use mouthwash without alcohol, this is also very strong and your mouth becomes completely stunned. It does not feel good to me so that I would not recommend to anyone.

Ive tried very very many mouthwashes ...i find this to be the most effective and it also has added usages...ie it can be used as bug spray lol we found this out while camping...came in very handy that trip

Listerine mouthwash used to be a part of my daily oral care. I had used the cool mint and fresh burst, and liked a lot. But recently I found that they have alcohol in it and that's the reason for strong and burning sensation and it only masks the bad breath rather than killing harmful bacteria. So I switched to crest that has no alcohol and safe for use while nursing and children. I gave average rating because of alcohol and strong taste.
