This foundation provides medium coverage. I used a primer underneath and translucent powder over top and by the end of the day, my face was not matte. The product has an average amount of shade selection and I liked that it came in a squeeze container. The product doesn't feel too heavy and it does feel like velvet due to the presence of silicone. I just wish there was less silicone since it prevents it from being matte for a long time.

*Disclosure: I received this product complimentary from ChickAdvisor for testing/review purposes. Views expressed are of my own.

There needs to be option between "You Betcha" and "Fugheddaboutit!" because that's how I feel about this product. I don't love it but I don't absolutely hate it to recommend it to someone. It really depends on their situation.

I like the packaging of the product - a squeeze tube gives control of how much product comes out. As for the foundation itself, it comes out as a mousse consistency but once applied, it feels liquid. It's a buildable medium to full coverage - it was able to blur my imperfections/acne. It goes on smooth and lightweight and provides a soft, velvety, matte finish - a very natural skin finish - doesn't feel like foundation was applied.

Although the foundation seemed great, I wouldn't recommend this to someone who has dry skin. My dry patches were very noticeable. Another thing I didn't like was the touch-ups I needed to do throughout the day, I didn't touch-up too much but the fact that the foundation doesn't stay on all day was a deal breaker for me.

I feel two ways about this foundation. I tried it on its own, with and without primer, and I found that on my normal skin it ended up looking beautiful for the first couple of hours after I applied it, but very, very dry later in the day. I tried it with a couple of drops of facial oil, with very similar results. I was only really able to make this look good on my skin for an extended period of time by mixing it with a sheerer, dewier foundation. Now, like I said, I have fairly normal skin at the moment, but this really made it look like it was much drier than it was. I would say that this could be a really great foundation for someone with oily skin who doesn't have to worry about emphasizing any parts of the skin that might be a little bit dry. So yes, I would definitely recommend this, but for the most part to women in their teens and 20s with oily skin. For normal to dry skin, I would say that this wouldn't be a good fit.

First of all I would like to say thank you to Chickadvisor for letting me try this product for free in return for an honest review.

When first applying this foundation it looks super thick, but it spreads fairly well on your face. It feels very light and not cakey. However I found the coverage to be very minimal. It covered up some marks on my face, but not the kind of coverage I was hoping for from Maybelline's Dream line. With that said, it does stand up to its "velvet" name and makes your skin super soft and smooth.
When I wear the dream velvet foundation I use it as a base and then apply a bit of the dream matte mousse and it does give me flawless looking skin.
I would probably purchase this again in the summertime for light coverage and buy it if it is on sale. I find the $17 too steep for the small coverage that it provides.

I liked this product over al . The color watch for me wasn't great. But that's my fault for not looking into it further. The coverage is actually better than I had expecte . However the finish to me wasn't matte. And it did going really bad to my dry patche . I really did love this foundation over al . And I'm going to go get my proper shade this weekend. Good drugstore foundation!

#maybellinedreamvelvet #gotitfree #chickadvisor I was sent this foundation to try from Chick Advisor. I have tried it numerous times with the blender that was also sent to me. I am not a fan of this foundation. I wet the sponge as the product recommended and it does not blend well. I tried to use the foundation with my own foundation brush, and again with just my fingers. It does not blend in well at all. The foundation seems to cake off my skin. It just doesn't do what I want a foundation to do.

I'm not one to wearing a lot of foundation so I did find this a little heavy but I did enjoy it and if the blender worked a little better it would have made application much easier! :)

    Skin type: Blemish-prone, oily
Skin tone: So white I'm almost translucent
    Shade: 05 Warm Porcelain

I was super excited to receive this product in the mail. I'm always interested in trying new foundations as many are problematic for my skin. The first issue I tend to have with foundation is that even the lightest shade is too dark for my skin. Warm porcelain is currently a little too dark for me, but I think it will match better in the summer time when I have a bit of a tan. The second issue I have is that foundations tend to clog my pores (even products that claim to be non comedogenic). Before I used this product, my skin was mostly clear -- the only problem being hyperpigmentation. Unfortunately after two days of use, I've noticed many clogged pores all over my face. I'm going to take a few days of rest before testing it again to see if it is truly the product.

The consistency of the product is very nice. I'm fond of mousse-like foundations so this was great. What I didn't enjoy was how fast this product dries! You can't dab it all over your face and then work it in -- you have to use it one spot at a time..which I don't mind doing. You definitely feel the hydrating claim with this product. Especially in the winter, where my skin can sometimes end up flaky when outside for long periods of time. Those flakes never happen with this product! This product makes your skin feel very smooth and definitely velvety. I did notice that there is a matte finish, which this product claims. I combined this with a matte primer and it helped keep the shine at bay longer than my typical foundation.

Overall, I really like the consistency of the product. I think if I did not have blemish-prone skin, I'd like this product a lot more (and if it came in my shade!). I let my mum try this product. She has dry skin and she really enjoyed it, so I would recommend it to someone with normal/dry skin.

TL;DR version of review -- would not recommend for blemish-prone skin; would recommend for normal/dry :)

The Dream Velvet foundation is not dehydrating for my dry skin and it has a beautiful finish when I have just applied it. Its coverage is light to average. The foundation does not conceal well my redness, my imperfections and my acne. So, the Dream Velvet foundation has no good performance on my skin and it marked my patches of drought in the course of the day. However, it is impossible to apply it with a brush without making of streak and I did not like the result when I used the Dream Blender sponge. I did not really like this product. Nevertheless, I adore several other foundations of Maybelline...
