I received a sample of Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation for free to try out and review as part of Chick Advisor's product review club. I was very pleased with this foundation and I felt that it lived up to it's advertised benefits. It was easy to apply and had a very nice, soft texture. I found it to be long-lasting and I didn't need to reapply throughout the day. I loved the look of the matte finish and I did get a few compliments on how nice my skin looked. Overall I was happy with the product and I would not hesitate to purchase it again or to recommend it to friends and family members.

I'm on the fence with this foundation. I don't hate it, but I'm not in love with it either. I've been trying it with different primers, with and without powders. When I put it on for the first few hours my face looks great, but it's also has minimal coverage, which is fine with me as I don't have that much that I'm trying to hide. The texture is something I've never used before, it's a thick mouse but I don't find it has a lot of coverage but I have slightly oily skin and by noon, I'm a bit of an oily mess, more than usual. Primers don't seem to make a difference, if I don't powder my face then it's a huge oil mess and I feel gross by mid afternoon, but if I do slightly try to set my face with powder, you can see it (I don't normally set my face with powder, so this could be user error and not the foundation). So in the end I'll use it on days I don't have anything special or doing anything major just to use it up, but I won't be repurchasing it.

I must say I really liked it! It does a great job covering and blending to give me a natural, clean and smooth look without the shine. The dream blender is OK. I found it works best to 'dot' on the foundation and use the blender to smooth things out. I don't recommend putting the foundation straight on the blender as lots is absorbed.

I'm always search for a drugstore foundation that gives me a matte, grease-free finish throughout the day and this Dream Velvet Foundation came close. I really like the mousse-like texture and a little goes a long way. I squeezed out the same amount as I normally would and ended up wasting quite a bit - the coverage is great! It feels light and wears well but by noon I do have to blot my T-zone. I did end up picking a shade that is a bit too dark but I will definitely be keeping it as my summer foundation and will go get a lighter one for my current skin tone.

I received this item to sample through Chick Advisor. The sponge was very bulky and harsh - unless it was a bit damp, it would basically soak all of the foundation into the sponge! It had very light coverage with the sponge and was very uneven. The finish was powdery more than velvety - it dried fast which didn't allow much time for blending. I would not repurchase.

I really liked this foundation not only was the colour a great match it provided a nice light to medium coverage. I loved the matte finishe that didn't cling to my dry spots. Normally I get quite oily in my t-zone during the day and I found that this foundation keep my oil more under control. I would purchase this product in the future but I might wait for a sale since it is quite a bit more then my current foundation choices.

When i got the foundation, i found the size is a little small than i expected. But when i used it, the texture is condense (not watery), so i just needed to use a little. It is another benefit when i travel and i don't need to bring huge and heavy foundation. This foundation can stay in my face for a long time, and makes my face looks so natural and it is really easy to apply it on my face. I really like it.
Besides, it came with a Dream Blender. Definitely using it with velvet foundation makes my skin tone more even especially the curves areas such as nose, under eyes and over eyebrows. But, in my opinion, this blender holder is a little too short and small for me. It would be perfect if it is designed longer.

My initial thoughts about using this product is that it is lightweight which I like. I enjoyed the mousse-like consistency. I would say that coverage is light-medium, but easy to build. As well, I enjoy that it leaves me with a soft matte finish. It also looked natural and not caked on at all. Compared with my other foundations, this one was nice and light and not as heavy. I would probably purchase this product again and will recommend to a friend.

Maybelline New York Dream Velvet foundation. Is so light and airy on my skin. But still allows for amazing coverage. Texture is very smooth, whipped texture. And drys to a nice matte finish. One of my favorites.

I liked this foundation! The texture is just like it says, very velvety. It blended into my skin really well, and had pretty good coverage. It is a lightweight foundation, which I really liked. Sometimes foundation feels really heavy on my skin, but not this. I would probably buy this again.
