When the Nutrience Grain Free SubZero Cat Food came in the mail, my cat knew right away! Immediately she was drawn to the box and started rubbing her head on it. We received the Fraser Valley cat food with chicken, turkey, salmon, herring and cod. At first she was very hesitant to eat it - she's getting older and doesn't like too many changes - but after awhile, she really enjoyed it! She seems to prefer the freeze dried stuff to the kibble and eats that first. I thought it was great that this food is available now... I was looking to switch her to something more natural and healthier than her current food. I would purchase this again for her. I received this for free from ChickAdvisor in exchange for our honest review.

Our house received a bag of the Prairie Red Nutrience cat food as part of a ChickAdvisor campaign. My cats (Atticus and Shelby) were both very curious when the bag arrived and were very anxious to have me open it up to see what was inside. After opening the package, I placed a small amount in a bowl on the floor and both cats went into it like they hadn't eaten in weeks! After this taste test, I started adding small bits to their current dry food and they've been loving it ever since. I've not noticed any immediate changes in my cats; however, they definitely do love the taste of this food, which is important to me because it's full of quality ingredients, rather than filler (corn, wheat, etc.) like a lot of cat foods out there. Once this bag is gone, I will definitely be looking for it at my local pet store and repurchasing. I've already recommended it to all friends and family as it's a great product!

This is a very high-quality cat food - the ingredient list is quite impressive (Prairie Red, Cat). I have an indoor cat with medium hair and normally feed him Blue Buffalo, so his coat was already shiny and soft. I integrated some of this food with his usual food and he seemed to really like it at first. I presented some on its own as a 'treat' and he ate it happily.

After about 2 weeks he seems to not be eating quite as much as usual and I suspect he might be eating around the Nutrience, so my cat might be too picky. His coat and energy level have not changed, so I still think this cat food is a great product.

I am going to keep integrating it into his normal food and would consider purchasing if he starts to favour it.

I received this product for free to review.

Thank you to Chickadvisor and Nutrience for giving me a free bag to give my little critter! I found this brands ingriedients very similar to my usual one with being grain and gluten free without fillers. Which I very much prefer since cats in the wild don't eat or need those added to their diet. I also liked how small the kibble was to make it easier for my cat devour every morning. The only reason I wouldn't purchase in the future is because it's much more expensive then the brand I regularly buy. Otherwise a great product that knows what your cat needs and doesn't for a healthier coat and energy.

so, i have 5 cats and i did feed them orijen (expensive, high quality brand). i'm glad this review offer came up and that i got chosen to try it for free(or better my cats).
i have to say they love it. the kibbles are smaller than the one i feed them from orijen ...also if i compare the ingredients they are close in protein and all that.
petsmart had nutrient subzero on sale and i also bought now the other flavour. and my cats devour this one as well.
i can't say anything about fur or so yet....i guess there will no big change, since i fed my cats already high quality food.
but nutrience is around $10 cheaper for same size bag and i like the small size of the kibbles.

well, you got me changing the brand...i hope my cats don't get tired of nutrience subzero(they did in the past with cheap food...and i had to switch all the time until i found orijen). so i hope that subzero is the one they like for month and month to come.

for pet owners that feed their pets a cheap food full of fillers and so on, the high quality food is well worth the price, as the cats need less and stay longer full because the food is rich in protein and grain free!!!! i really wish nutrience would come out with wet food.

the second day I got it in the mail my cats had it ripped open, they were new to it and didn't know what to think of it at first , then they got used to it. they are not new to nutrience but they were new to freezedried meat but it worked out.I had been thinking of getting it a try, and chickadvisor helped me to give it a try, Meeka, Esmee, Sylvester and Sweetpea are happy with it and I'll keep on buying it for them. Thank you very much

The cats got the Prairie Red Fraser Valley blend

    Meet my Cats:
I guess let me start off by saying I own two very different cats. One (Gotham) is a little hell raiser who is only 1year old and the other (Cassi) she is 5 (we think) and a miserable grumpus who has no time to be bothered with Gotham.

    Regular Diet:
Both cats regularly eat Hills Science Diet Total Dental care kibble and Chunks and gravy wet food. 1/2 cup Dry in the morning each and 1/2 can Wet in the evening each.

    The Unboxing:
At first when I opened the box they ate through the bag to get at its contents so I couldn't even take a decent before shot so my hopes were high!

    Introductions:
Secondly they jumped at the opportunity to "Snack" on this as a "Treat" to first PROPERLY introduce them to it...even though they chewed through the damn bag... I digress!!

    Integrating it into Daily Diet:
But what I noticed after integrating it into their daily diet is they left all the little kibbles and only ate the Hills kibbles (5 times the size of the tiny kibbles) and the freezer dried meats.

As the week progressed I started to eliminate the Hills Dental kibble from the ratio and found that they would pick over the tiny kibbles and wine incisively like they were starving with a full bowl of food.

    Final Thoughts:
They do eat it, but I feel that if the kibbles were larger they may enjoy it more, as each morning I am tossing left over tiny kibbles to give them fresh food.

I thought for sure that Cassi would be all over this as she seemed to prefer smaller kibbles (she's the type to chew once and leave her fall outs all over the ground) but she seemed she could take it or leave it.

I've fed Nutrience kibbles in the past to other cats and found it to be a diverse line at a reasonable price and quite enjoyable for my other cat (bless his soul) but for some reason my current cats (Gotham and Cassi) are kinda unimpressed by it.

As far as their coats, They have always been incredibly soft and full, but this is I am sure due to their previous diet so It didn't really make any difference that I can noticeably see or feel for better or worse.

As far as their energy levels go. Not particularly any change on that front either. Cassi is starting to play a little more but I think that's more to do with Gotham teaching her how to Cat. LOL.

    MY Recommendations:
Nutrience has a diverse line as I mentioned, if this one isn't the right fit for your Cat, there is a good chance that they have something that will appease them. Things I always consider when looking into new foods, or brands specially for cats:

    -Ash content
    - Magnesium content
    -Moisture
    - Vet Recommended
    -Vet Tested

If ever you have any questions regarding your pets food bring it to your vet for them to look over, Mine has been very patient with me when I have questions for her and she helps me with the Right questions I should ask the 800 numbers that are usually found on the packaging.
I've had a cat pass from Crystals, and it is not a pleasant experience so these things listed above are highly important to me when sourcing new food.

I hope I have been helpful!

My cats loved this food! They are quite picky and I was surprised how much they liked it.

I chose the Prairie Red variety for Scooter and Poe to try out (my cats). The large bag will last them a long time as I have been putting a bit of the kibble here and there on top of their vet canned food, it's been a treat for them!

I also enjoyed the selfie stick that came in the box as well as the coupons to use on future purchases. This was quite a unique experience as normally we just get beauty products to try out from the PRC, so this was super cool.

This is a great quality of cat food!

My cats normally eat Royal Canine but I received this sample in the mail and started giving it to them as a treat, they just go crazy for it!

I love knowing I am giving my little fur babies something good for them :)

My cat usually eats another brand of grain free food. I got a sample of the Prairie Red food and she LOVED it! She ate it like I was giving her special treats! It's excellent for her dietary needs and I will definitely be buying it.
