Such a heartfelt story. Hard to read in some parts, and definitely stays with you long after the book is read. It is a book that I would actually love to read again sometime.

What a powerful story about the strength of the human spirit. It was an honest and thought provoking story that stayed with you long after you had read the last page.

A truly inspiring and influential book about a woman's life. I remember reading this year's ago and was so moved by the events of her life. Loved the movie too.

This book is timeless, it will always be relevant. I read it in high school and reread it as an adult, it was good then and its good now. If you haven't read it you should!

The Color Purple is a novel about the life and trials of a young African American woman. I was introduced to this novel back in high school by my religion teacher. (we're talking early - mid 90's). I'm in my mid 30's now and I will never forget this novel. Do yourself the favour and read the novel first before watching the movie.
