Description
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

I loved this book! I could not put it down! It's a real page turner! I could not wait to get my hands on #2 and #3
This book is great! I couldn't put it down and went it bought the other two before I finished the first. I was disappointed with the movie though.
One of the best books ever written! To make things better, there are two more sequels. I loved the book so much that I even went out and got a Hunger Games tattoo before I knew there was a movie coming out.
The Hunger Games series is AMAZING!! I couldn't put it down it had me hook, line and sinker. Suzanne Collins is an amazing author. The characters just come to life in her writing. I have bought all of the books and have bought the first movie and can't wait for the other two to come out in movies. :)
Love this book, and all three of them are just FAB!
I don't even really want to see the movies, because I don't want them to wreck the descriptions of everything which were explained in the novels.
I read the whole series of these books in less then a week just before the movie came out last spring! I highly recommend this book! I even lent my copy out and asked to have it returned when my friend was finished and for me that says a lot as I usually just give books away when I am done! I really enjoyed the character development and the whole idea behind the book! I think even my son would like to read tis when he is a bit older and I can see how it would appeal to boys & girls! My only complaint is that it was too short meaning that I really enjoyed it and wish there was more to read!
When I was offered this book the first thing I though was: war, poor, survival = not for me. But as soon as I started reading this book I couldn't let it go. It tells the story of how a tiny tone rolling can produce an avalanche.
A great read for any age. I couldn't put the book down, and straightaway needed to discover what happened to Katniss in the next two books!
My niece was reading this book and I asked her about it. After she shared the basic story line I was hooked. This book, as well as the other two in the series, is a great read. Plan on a few sleepless nights as it is hard to put this book down. Enjoy.
I love all thre books in the Trilogy. I read all 3 over just a weekend!
