Pricey but worth it

I was chosen to take part in the Sobey's Voila Product Review group. I was incentivized through discounts. My experience was mostly positive. The driver that dropped down my groceries were super nice and polite. He called me several times before arriving and made sure that my cold groceries were placed in the truck refrigerator to keep the quality high. Everything arrived on time and in perfect shape. The website was easy to use and navigate for purchases.

However, there are some things to consider if you plan to try the program. First, the driver will not leave groceries to an empty home. Someone must be in the house during the pick-up. Second, not all groceries are available at all times. A lot of my groceries were removed when I selected the date. The website is also pretty new and not many details about the product is given such as the expiry date or what's in it.

Great Service to Your door!

I received a discount of $25 off $100 order and took advantage of it right away to try Voila's home grocery delivery service. From the time I opened Voila's website to the time I received my products at the door I had a great experience. Their website made it fast and easy to pick the products I wanted to buy with a side menu and sub menus categorized as well as a search bar. They also have a vast collection of products to choose from. It is very easy to add and subtract items to the grocery cart and it tallies the price as you go along. I also like that the sale items for the week are posted. I like that there are convenient 1 hour window times for delivery. The driver came to my apartment door in my high rise. I didn't have to go to the lobby. Big convenience for me! He even called and said he was 15 min. away giving me a heads up. When he arrived we went over my order and made sure it was all there. The produce I ordered was super fresh! + +
The cons about this service is I cannot collect Airmiles ordering through Voila. Also I would expect the prices of the products would be somewhat cheaper (comparing to Nofrills and Food Basics etc) since they are being picked from the warehouse and not the store itself.

Over all EXECELLENT service and I definitely WILL order again from Voila and I'll be telling my friends and relatives how fast and friendly and user friendly Voila website and delivery is!

Timely Support

It's a comfort knowing there is a service like Viola to help during times of crisis, such as this pandemic isolation. It's a valuable service that you appreciate when your unable to go out and shop for yourself.
The discount I received for this delivery was very fair and it was easy to have my order processed. I enjoyed the quality & customer service by the Viola staff.

Quick next day delivery, everything in stock but expensive.

I got an opportunity to try and review the new Sobeys grocery delivery service- Viola and received a $25 off $100 purchase through ChickAdvisor for this review. The new service sends grocery items from their warehouse, so it included items from various Sobey's stores- FarmBoy, Freshco and their Complements line. This was great because I didn't need to go to different stores for the products I wanted. I ordered things through the website yesterday evening for delivery this morning. The delivery was on time, the person was friendly and everything was extremely fresh, and the cold things were the perfect temperature. I was quite impressed because all the items that needed to be refrigerated were in bags with different coloured handles, and normally things melt a little in my car, so delivery was much better! There were some changes from normal - the person said there could be no returns, and if anything was wrong with the order, the cost of that would be credited to the next purchase, and that they normally take the plastic bags back for recycling during a subsequent order. I am very impressed with the quick service, the fact that everything I wanted was included, no mistakes were made, and how clear the pricing for delivery was ($7.99 showed on each timeslot when picking delivery). The website had pictures for all the things, which was great.
Now for some of the things that weren't as great- the website itself was somewhat frustrating. Searching for an item didn't automatically give me all the results from all the stores on the same page. I had to click on different tabs- Shop Home, or Complements, or FarmBoy or Freshco,or Well.ca and search for the same item multiple times to see the best price. I don't want to waste time trying to search through all the tabs, everything relevant should just come up on the same page regardless since it is all coming from the same warehouse anyway. I did find it hard to navigate and find certain items. I also wish that it was possible to see all the sale items based on the store instead of just on the shop home page. I don't really see the point in having multiple tabs if they don't also allow for the same search options. Additionally, it seems like there is a significantly smaller selection of items available online vs in store. I found the selection of international foods especially limited. Even basic fresh herbs like cilantro were only available in extremely small packs for way more than a regular bunch of cilantro. I did like that there was an option to see things by price and also by comparative price/100 grams, so I didn't need to calculate it myself. I realized that I ordered the wrong size of butter when it was delivered, that was my fault for picking the wrong size, but I wish the font for the product quantity was larger. Other issues included not receiving Airmiles points like I would for buying in store at Sobeys, not being able to use Sobeys gift cards for the transaction, and obviously no price matching like at Freshco.
Overall, this is a good service for quick nextday delivery of basic products. I feel like the $7.99 delivery fee is too high even with the minimum $50 order. I would have expected a lower shipping cost, or a credit towards the next purchase. I can see myself using it if I am returning from a trip and don't want to stop at the store, or if I want to send something to my parents. I don't think I will use it for my usual shopping trips though, because it was too expensive, and I much prefer earning airmiles at Sobeys, or pricematching at Freshco, or picking up fresh bakery products from Farmboy.

Easy to order and excellent delivery service!

I tried the Voila grocery delivery service and it was such an amazing experience! Thankful that I got a discount for $25 off $100 so that I was more inclined to test it out. First of all, I downloaded the app to initially put items in my cart and save things in my favourites. The app was easy to use and everything seamlessly syncs when I finalized my order on my computer. There were so many options to choose from since it was coming from the warehouse instead of the local grocery store. It was also easy to see what items were on sale and quickly compare similar items.

The delivery part was one of my favourites. The delivery driver called me 10 mins before he arrived and told me how the process works. They were so prompt and everything was fresh including my produce. If anything was broken or wrong, they'll take it off your bill. I feel like this delivery service really cares about the quality from start to finish, and I would use this service again and recommend to people I know.

Great service! Super impressed!

I have used other grocery delivery services, but Voila by Sobeys is definitely different in many ways.
For one the shipping charges are much lower then others, I mean who wouldn't pay $7.99 just for the convenience of not having to go to the grocery store....other services cost more, some much more.
The choice of products was amazing! So happy with that. And with the coupon code from ChickAdvisor for $25.00 off, that was a very nice bonus!
It was so easy to add items to your cart. The registration process was completely painless, and super simple to follow. The time window for delivery is in one hour increments, whereas some other service are longer. You choose the best delivery time and day for you. So convenient.
The driver was very friendly, and followed my directions to a tee. Because of Covid I ask that they leave the groceries on the front porch, and then I will get them once they leave. ( I have 3 high risk people in my household).
He called before hand to let me know he would arrive in about 20 minutes, and as per my instructions would put all the groceries on the porch and then knock on the front door so I know they are there. Fabulous service!
I think what really impressed me was that once I had finished adding all my items to my cart, and went to checkout, a window pops up to tell you what is not available, that is sooooo helpful! It gives you a chance to choose a different item! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this feature!
I can tell you first hand, other services do not do this and you don't find out what is missing until your order is packed and on the truck at which at that point you cannot choose another product, so you just don't get those item(s).
I also love that I get a detailed list of the products and their prices in email. If something is on sale, you will see the normal price crossed out and the sale price beside it, also a great feature!
I cannot say enough how impressed I am with this service and I will say I will no longer be using any other grocery delivery services going forward.

Convenient

I loved this experience by Sobeys. Everything came on the time and very fresh. Is very convenient, you need just few clicks and Voilà!!!

Great idea

THIS was the 1st time I had EVER tried a service like this before. Overall...its an excellent idea & option from conventional grocery shopping. There are however some things I dislike.

You can not price match or use coupons. I PERSONALLY like to get things at the lowest price possible. The selection isn't the greatest....for instance, I could not get the bag salad my family enjoys, nor could I get "old" cheddar cheese.

I actually had to change my time slot to accommodate some of the groceries in my "cart" which actually confused me a little. My question is, why would cheese slices be available at 6 a.m but not at 2 p.m??

I think a service like this would is a great option for people who are really busy, or even those at home under the weather.

I would recommend this to a friend or family member.

Selection not available

While the concept of Voila sounds great and the advertising has been really well done, I’m going to explain why I didn’t end up actually Using my discount or ordering anything from this new service. I was very excited to try this service, I have tried other grocery delivery and pick-up options in the last few months, and delivery times are always a challenge. The opportunity to have 1-hour time slots along with Sobey’s quality and selection I thought would be great. So I used the provided links and started looking for my first item, butter. No butter to buy except for $7.49 specialty butter - double the price of regular butter. Ok so into the next item on my list, yogurt. Only 3 types of yogurt came up and no, small portion options were available. And that was the end of that, since I already had to go out shopping, I gave up and completed my shopping somewhere else. I have learned that their website now contains more options, and is fully stalked, but that was not the case the day I tried to create an order. I truly hope they can get their website to be consistent with the quality and selection their brick and mortar stores provide.

New is good!

I tried this service after receiving a voucher from a product review service. The ease of ordering is pretty good tho the searches provided responses outside the search. For example I chose fruit and got both fruit and veg. Made me search for more specific items.
There were quite a few unavailable items, especially the store brand items. I find Sobeys overpriced often other than sale items so I tend to buy store brand when possible
The checkout was smooth. Delivery driver called prior to arrival as was very courteous and polite. Product arrived in good condition. In my opinion too many bags are used. I ordered several frozen pizzas of different flavours and each type was in its own bag.
Overall a good service to add to our options.
