I received the Gabby’s Dollhouse, Cakey Cat Kitchen set for free in exchange for an honest review (thank you Butterly, Spin Master, and Family Rated Club!) We hardly buy toys for our kids so when this giant box arrived, it was like Christmas in August – and perfect timing too, as we are 7 episodes into Gabby’s Dollhouse on Netflix!
Kids Review: my 4 and 7 year old played at it non-stop for about 3 hours. The photo I have here is taken by my 4yo with the caption “I’m cooking like mommy!” They absolutely love the stove knobs, which were so real like, and the Cakey voices. It’s a bit tight for 2 kids to play together but it’s also a good time to learn to share. The fridge on the side is now stacked with every food toy we have, and even with the door opening and closing for 1000 times, it’s still holding. The Cakey figure is definitely the most popular item, and like you see in the photo, poor Cakey has been cooked and grilled many times now. The kids are asking for a sprinkle party (like in the show), maybe we will hold off on that….
Adult Review: At first glance, it looked a bit intimidating to put together the kitchen set (luckily I did it after bedtime so I could actually focus). The instructions were hidden in the play cardboard package, my only comment is it would be nice to have it in color. I found the instructions a bit hard to read and figure out which pieces go where in black and white. The material quality overall is okay, with the exception of a small hinge (see photo in my IG post) that took quite a bit of muscle to get the two pieces clicked. The kitchen set has been rough played and is still standing so the overall quality is good. It took me about 30 minutes to put the set together. I am most impressed by the fridge door (see photo in my IG), that mechanism to click shut the door hinges and to release it is truly amazing (and safe!) like I mentioned earlier, the fridge door has been opened 1000+ times and is still doing great! Even I wanted to play with it! The Cakey Cat Kitchen is amazing and beautiful, the height is perfect for a child under 8 and it gives enough room to add your own kitchen toy collection (let’s face it, we all have lots of those). The sound and Cakey phrases are so true to the TV show and my kids are just loving it. Really love the set, and from what I can tell, the kids will be playing this every day for a very long time!

I received the Irish Spring Active Scrub Body Wash for free in exchange for an honest review (the following will be reviewed by the husband, although I also tried the product and loved it!). LOVE the new bottle/design! It has been a while since I have used Irish Spring and the smell brings back so many memories (mostly of my granddad, because Irish Spring is such a classic staple in the shower). I was a bit hesitant with the exfoliating scrubbing beads (never liked little bits sticking on my skin), but surprisingly it felt really nice and there was absolutely no funny residue left! I used it on my face and body (thank you – my wife does not understand why men only needs one bottle!) so it was super convenient, and space saving. Face grease was completely removed and feels fresh, smells amazing, and so far no new breakouts for me. Overall I am very happy and it’s important to be clean! -

I received the Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil sample for free in exchange for an honest review. I have walked past the Shu Uemura beauty desk/shops so many times but have never tried anything (it’s just too expensive), so I’m very thankful and happy to try this Sublime Beauty Cleansing oil. First impression, it smells glorious, kind of like being in a rainforest. I think it’s the Tsubaki flower (Japanese camellia oil) that’s generating the pleasant scent. It’s not very oily, unlike some other brands I’ve used. I used a cotton pad and because it’s a little more watery, I noticed I had to use a bit more to wet the pad. That being said, it was so worth it. Two wipes and my eye make up was gone, and that was waterproof mascara too. Another wipe and my lipstick also came off. Even with a full face of makeup (we had a wedding to go to), it only took 2 cotton pads to clean off everything.
My only small suggestion is to include “how to use” on the bottle or package. Knowing this is a sample, and maybe that’s why there isn’t any instructions. It’s like, can I leave it on, because it leaves my skin so soft and smells so good? Can I use it like a moisturizer? I didn’t, since it says it’s a makeup remover, and I followed up with my usual skin cleaning routine. Otherwise what a great product!

I received the Covergirl Simply Ageless Lash Plumping Mascara (in black noir) for free in exchange for an honest review. Covergirl has always been a staple in my makeup basket – since when I was a teenager. Not only because of the price, but for the quality and convenience of finding one (think last minute party, need to grab a few makeup essentials at a drug store, Covergirl’s got you!) I was so excited to try this new mascara (because I had a wedding to go to over the weekend). The wand is thicker than my other mascara, and it takes less strokes to put it on. Personally, I prefer the smaller wand because my eyelashes are thinner, so less chances to mess it up, but I do appreciate the thickness for convenience. No clumps (so far), and instantly my thin eyelashes are volumized. After 14 hours of wearing it, I can tell you 100% it LASTED and no touch up was needed, and no panda eyes ether! I cried a little at the wedding ceremony and my eyes were perfectly fine! Covergirl, you’ve done it again! At the end of the evening (more like morning), it took only 3 attempts to wipe off the mascara, and I’m good to shower and head to bed. Pretty happy with this mascara! -

I received the Orange Naturals Baby Probiotics+D3 Drops for free in exchange for an honest review. We all know probiotics is important especially after when you have to take antibiotics, and D3 is great for bones and growing teeth. My 2 year old fortunately haven’t had to take antibiotics during this trial period but I still gave him some for the probiotic and D3 supplements. First of all, it’s tasteless (yes I’ve tried it), so no complaints in that area. But it’s SO hard to shake out the drop, we actually made a mess the several times we used it. The instruction calls for 5 drops and the first few drops were always missed. We tried dropping directly on the tongue (with not much luck), and the spoon was a better option for us. Maybe a dropper would be better for the next design? Other than that, no side effects, can’t see much benefits immediately (but that’s normal with supplements). Will keep the bottle around for a bit and definitely use it when the next round of antibiotic comes along. Good news is this little bottle should last quite some time as it’s only 5 drops per day. Excuse the picture background, it was requested by the tester (my 2yo) :) -

I received the Breyers Canadian Desserts Butter Tart ice cream for free in exchange for an honest review. Love the Canadian version of ice cream, IT’S ABOUT TIME WE HAVE ONE! The selection was so eye catching on the grocery freezer shelf, it makes you feel so proud of our country! Full disclosure, I LOVE BUTTER TARTS so you know where this review is going :) The ice cream is so smooth, with little tart bits in it, kind of like mini cookies, which I also love. The texture is amazing, and like other Breyers ice cream, the taste does not disappoint. Perfect for a hot summer night dessert! It’s not too sweet, with just the right amount of butter tarts and mixture of ice cream. The whole family tried it and the 2 adults seems to like this one more than the original vanilla version – but hey, that’s totally okay, more for us! Now I have to try all the other versions of the Canadian line (and maybe get myself a second freezer?) -

I received the Breyers Creamery Style Natural Vanilla ice cream for free in exchange for an honest review. First of all, thank you Breyers and Butterly for this special treat! Our household has a tradition where we take turns to pick a dessert, and this week, it was (for once) unanimous! Everyone jumped at the chance to cool off with some much-loved ice cream. Vanilla is not the most favorite flavour in this house, but for some reason, when we tried this Creamery Style, everyone (including the pickiest 4 year old) said they loved it! We each added different toppings (as you can see from the photo) but I think it stands really well on itself. So delicious, so creamy, so smooth, and also you can actually smell a hint of vanilla. It was super easy to find at the grocery freezer section, think eye level, you won’t miss it. 10/10 -

I received the Yes To Avocado Daily Eye Cream for free in exchange of an honest review. I am ALWAYS on the lookout for new eye cream, preferably with natural and sustainable ingredients (thanks Yes To!), and animal-free tested products. After using the Yes To Eye Cream for a week, once in the morning and evening, I can’t say there’s much improvement to my skin’s dryness and fine lines, but it feels good and it absorbs pretty quickly. Can’t smell the avocado oil (probably a good thing!) and love that it is actually fragrance-free, and also love the light-weight texture (see my photo). I didn’t get any mini breakouts in the eye area and I love the eye cream texture, so I will keep using it for now. Maybe the Hyaluronic Acid Humectant will take a while to see the effects, but regardless, it’s still a good eye cream product. -

I received the pHisoderm® CLEAN Blemish-Prone Facial Cleanser for free in exchange of an honest review. The bottle clearly says no parabens, no soap, no alcohol, no dyes, no mineral oil or suffates, and I believe them – there’s no smell traces at all – it just smells and feels… CLEAN. I’ve been using this cleanser for about a week now, every night continuously, and I haven’t had any new breakout. I like that squeaky clean feeling after washing your face but I’ve also learned that’s because there’s alcohol in the cleanser. There’s no squeaky clean feeling for the pHisoderm cleanser BUT my face FEELS CLEAN and balanced. The fact that I haven’t had any new breakouts means my skin is pretty happy with the cleanser :) Can’t smell the coconut oil or papaya but my skin feels hydrated after washing, which is better compared to other cleansing products that normally strips out everything. -

I received the My Clarins RE-MOVE Micellar Cleansing Water for free in exchange of an honest review. My Clarins Paris is a top brand that does not disappoint! One swipe with a cotton pad, and my mascara makeup was gone! No breakage and no fuss! I looked at the instructions and decided to use the micellar water as a cleanser (I always thought it was just for removing makeup), and wow – a clean fresh face in the morning! Golden Gentian extract helps sooth and soften skin, and it worked on mine! My skin is usually a bit greasy in the morning from all the lotion/pillow case rubs, but the micellar cleansing water made it so soft and it feels so clean in the morning. Super easy to apply. I had to use 2 cotton pads to clean after a full face of makeup after work, but makeup came off easily (especially the mascara part, which is always a bit difficult for me). Love it! -
