I am a 27 year old female with combination, sensitive and acne prone skin. Earlier this year I introduced actives (AHA & BHA) to my routine, and started a prescription retinol gel. With actives you NEED a decent sunscreen as they increase photosensitivity. Realistically everyone should be using sunscreen in their routine, but that’s another story. I picked up the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer FACE Sunscreen 60 SPF from Walmart for about $14. While I am fairly pale, I do not notice any sort of residue or white cast. It does go on a little greasy but absorbs within 30 minutes. My skin does not look oily while using this sunscreen. I use this one on days where I will have increased sun exposure (hiking, beaching, patio drinking) as it requires less reapplication and has a high SPF. I wouldn’t recommend it for day to day if you wear heavy makeup as it can pill a little under makeup. -

I am a 27 year old female with combination, sensitive and acne prone skin. I am a huge fan of CeraVe. I own numerous products and normally boast about the quality ingredients. The CeraVe Moistirizing Cream, or “CeraVe in the tub” is a cult favourite in the beauty world. It is thick enough to lock your products in overnight, and it’s great for eczema and dry skin. I was one of the unfortunate few who broke out like crazy and had a crazy irritation from this product. I find it to be very clogging for my face, and I am so very sad about it. I use it on my hands at night now to battle dry skin, but honestly I find it a little too greasy for that sometimes. I think if it works for you it’s a great value (about $20 for a tub) and the ingredients are true to CeraVe (ceramides and hyaluronic acid). The new packaging with the pump is also fantastic as it lowers the risk of bacteria and keeps the product fresh. -

I’m so glad the local grocery store stocks these year round. These are easily one of my favourite treats. They’re so good on their own, but versatile enough to find their way into a nice cookie from time to time as well. I have to hide them from the Boyfriend sometimes if I want to save every last bite for myself. -

I buy these in packs of 2 from London Drugs for under $10. There’s one in my car, one in my purse, one in my makeup bag, one at my desk at work... if you haven’t gathered yet, I love this lip balm. It says it in the name - it is so moisturizing. Not only does it heal my chapped lips, it prevents more from happening. The formula is quite sheer so it goes on clear, and it’s great as a base or top coat for your lipstick. It’s the first lip chap I’ve worn that the Boyfriend hasn’t noticed a “chemical” taste post kiss. I love this stuff. -

I only started wearing lipstick this past year and there’s already an assortment of MAC lipsticks in my makeup bag. I love the fact that they have different finishes depending on how to like your lip shine, and they’re all super buildable so you can tone them down or amp them up. My current favourites are “D for Danger” (thank you Fifty Shades of Grey) and “Viva Glam II.” I am planning on picking up “Whirl,” “Really Me,” and “Velvet Teddy” ASAP too. The packaging are these super cute black bullets that fit easily in a clutch and carry that luxe black MAC design. The colour doesn’t wear ALL night but withstands dinner and a few drinks before a touch up is needed. I find the more hydrated your lips are, the better the colour lasts. Another thing I love is that Viva Glam proceeds help towards HIV/AIDS research and treatment. -

I am a 27 year old female with combination, sensitive and acne prone skin. For years I suffered with what seemed like mid day breakouts, intense oil and just a cakey looking face. Turns out this was a result of the drugstore brand setting powders I was using. Since switching to MAC Studio Fix I have significantly less break outs, less oil and my face never looks cakey. I use the NC20 and while it is fair, it never makes me look pale like some of the drugstore brands did. While I will admit that MAC carries a heavier price tag (about $35), I find myself using less product and getting great results. I also love how luxe the little black compacts look in my makeup bag. -

Let me just start by saying I hate wearing foundation. I have found it too thick and too heavy and half way through the day it looks like a hot, clumpy mess. This is not the case with the Marcelle Matte BB Cream. I was looking for a tinted moisturizer and stumbled upon this instead. I really liked that it was dermatologist tested and non-comogenic, and clearly indicated on the package! I picked up the “light” shade and couldn’t be happier with my semi-impulse buy. This spreads out so nicely that a pump or two is all you need depending on the coverage you want. The formula is very moisturizing on your skin and holds true to the “matte” claim. It hides any oil I have and doesn’t even look like I’m wearing anything heavy. If you’re looking for the full coverage of a foundation then this isn’t for you, but if you’re looking for a more even complexion without the shine then give it a go. My skin looks nice all day, and it’s easy to build on if you need a touch up before date night. I picked mine up at Walmart for about $20. -

I am a huge fan of the Apothic wines. They’re an easily acquired taste for a wine newbie, but also an appreciated taste for a seasoned wine drinker. The Bold brand of Apothic is exactly that - a dark red wine blend of bold flavours with a hint of chocolate sweetness. It is entirely too easy to put away a whole bottle of this in one sitting. The only downside I have found with Apothic is they are slightly overpriced for the fact that they’re blends. -

Our household of 2 has gone through probably 3 or 4 boxes of these this winter alone. The Boyfriend uses them as a preventive measure when he’s going to be around his students and out in the cold. I use them when I feel a tickle in my throat, or when I am just feeling worn out during cold and flu season. They taste great and the individual packets make it easy to store in your purse, wallet or car for quick access. Also, for the adults in my life, these are my best kept secret for “one too many glasses of wine last night.” The electrolytes really help to pep you back up and kick that hangover to the curb. -

Going to Bath and Body Works is a full on outing for me and the Boyfriend. We love the candles and the soaps. We won’t go anywhere else for our handsoaps. Not only do they smell amazing, but they’re gentle on your hands and feel very cleansing. We prefer the foaming version and appreciate the mixture of tried and true scents as well as the seasonal scents. Bath & Body Works is also a great value. We usually get 5-7 bottles for about $25 (depending on the sale) and they last us a good couple months between 2 bathrooms and our kitchen. -
