I learned something that I had not known about rice in general. Did you know that wild rice is not rice at all but a grass?
My family tried Naosap Harvest's Certified Organic Wild Rice which is grown in the pristine isolated lakes of Northen Manitoba, CANADA by the family owned and operated company. I followed the easy simple to use directions provided by Naosap Harvest.
First, I have to say that we, being the traditional Uncle Ben's made in 5 minute rice consumers, I have to be honest, I wasn't quite sure what to make of this new and oh so unknown rice (at least to me). It was also a challenge for me to get the men in the family to try it. I am so proud of them. They are great sports and tasted this new dish just for me! ( I think they are becoming accustomed to being my "guinea pigs" hahaha)
My hubby being a meat and potatoes kinda guy (I swear one of these days he is going to turn into a potato!) was the hardest to get to try the rice. On a good day I often hear him call out "where's the potatoes"! Being the supportive half he is, in the end he tried it with little resistance. I of course incorporated meat & potatoes into his meal. For the first tasting we tried the rice plain with nothing added and no extra flavouring. I wanted to get the full flavour of the rice. I was, at first, comparing the rice to other rice I have eaten. I admit I was wrong in doing so. You cannot compare this to any other rice, especially rice that comes in a box and takes 5 minutes to cook!
I personally LOVED Naosap Harvest's Organic Wild Rice's flavour and texture. I found it very palatable and would most definitely add it to my meals again.
My hubby on the other hand. At first he wasn't quite sure what to make of it. "The texture, firmness, taste and the colour was all new to him. Although he did eat his full portion, still today he is not quite sure what to make of it. "It's not bad tasting, not awful, it is good!" There's just something about it that he just couldn't put his finger on or put into words. I replied that it is because it is healthy for him! He agreed that MUST be it! (hahaha)
My son was my second "victim" for my review. Ever since he was young he has always a been a huge rice fan and eats rice by the plate full. He of course loved it and devoured it (which was not a surprise to me)
The second tasting of the rice was a bit different. I slowly simmered it in a brand name herb and garlic soup mix, added finely chopped mushroom, a bit of carrot and asparagus (for colour and aesthetics). I was very pleased with the outcome and I must add that so was the hubby. He devoured it all. Even with the added flavouring I could still taste the essence of the rice which I loved. The flavour did not get overwhelmed by the added ingredients. I can see myself making a lot of dishes with this rice that the family will surely love.

The story of the POOK is a funny but yet oh so ingenious tale.
Now, I have heard many an invention be thought of, planned and totally off the wall while sipping on a few brown pops, however the clever thinking and brainchild of the mastermind behind the POOK is pure genius. As you may have guessed "yes, alcohol was involved".

I just LOVE the POOK!
The POOK products I reviewed were the Pook Toque, Pook Doques, Pook Onezie and the Pook Thigh High Socks. To be honest I was so anticipating for the package to arrive and anxiously awaiting for the knock on my door. I opened the package and I squealed with delight and sheer happiness. I was not disappointed at all.
We had a couple warm days here in Grimsby and I hate to say it but I was kind of glad when the next few days dipped down in temperature and we got another slight blanketing of snow!! (I know shoot me now LOL)
I have been wearing my Pook Onezie for 2 days now! I can't bring myself to take it off! ~LOL ~
It is so comfortable, warm and I shall say stylish! I am even tempted to wear it out to the local Giant Tiger store when I go shopping, Onezie, Pook Toque and all. It would be great to see the looks on peoples faces (hehehe).
What I absolutely love about the Pook Onezie is the hood and the flap!! This "second skin" I have come to call it is now my go to for hunting. Yes, I said it! It would be great for hunters and fisherman alike. I can't tell you how many times I have trekked to the deer stand only to have to water mother nature's garden. Sure, it's easy enough for the men folk but for me, not so easily done, especially without freezing half my body off. The material is so soft it makes you just melt right into it and want to snuggle in it for days. It really does "remind people of being in the womb".
Now, I couldn't wear the Onezie without having put on the POOK signature piece. The POOK Toque!
I just love this toque. it's so cute, funny and oh so functional. I have tried and worn many a toque in my day but I have to say that this IS the best toque I have EVER had the pleasure of wearing. It keeps your ears warm and the cold winds out! I really dislike when I purchase a new toque and it is so thin that if you blow on it you can feel the wind tunneling into your ears. I have really sensitive ears and earaches are a constant remind of why I dislike winter. They can be extremely painful and so I find myself having to stay indoors quite often. Not any more! I have found salvation in the Pook Toque. I am forever grateful!
The Pook Toque is reversible so if you don't want to be daring and have the floppy socks you can reverse it and just have the ear covers. Dual functionality ~ I LOVE that!
My outfit wouldn't be near complete without the Pook Doques!
Now you want to talk about warm!. The wind doesn't blow through the material, which is an A for me!. All to often when I wear mittens such as these, I can feel the breeze blowing through. It makes being outside unbearable, especially when your hands are always cold as it is. Toasty warm your hands will be wearing these. The Pook Doques have soft flannel fleece on the inside, thick wool sock on the outside and are so comfortable! What's not to LOVE!
The Piece de resistance The Pook Thigh Highs!
I am in loooooooooove! My legs have never been so warm under a pair of jeans in winter in my life. I like these better than long underwear!! Long underwear tend to bunch up in jeans. It's more so my legs, especially my calves that get cold and feel our Canadian bitter wind biting into them. Not with these on I tell you. Even though they are wool they are a soft wool, non itchy and oh so warm and comfortable!
I wore these with my Onezie last night. It was freezing in the old farm house. I have to say that my feet, legs, actually my whole body was toasty wearing my POOK ensemble!

I have been using this product for well over a week now and I must say I LOVE it!! As with all Pantene Products that I have come to love it has a great scent, thick silky smooth shampoo and conditioner and the BB cream is awesome!! I have found as I am aging that my hair falls out more than my dogs. It breaks easily and is extremely dry (especially during the winter months). After using these products I have found my hair is softer, silkier and I am "shedding" less. Now, I am still losing hair but I am not cringing when I look into my hair brush. I even had my hubby use it and he loves it (even though he won't admit it because it's a "girly" scent" LOL I will most definitely be seeking this product on my next shopping trip!!

I have tried all three scents of this product. I am more partial to the Lavender (purple one). You only need about a teaspoon for a large load of laundry. While I do love that the scent lasts for a while and what a beautiful scent it is (barring you don't wear your clothes or use your bedding or towels). It does not last as long as they claim. I do realize that as the day progresses your clothes are going to pick up odors (be it from smoking, pets etc.) I found that the scent may last a few days (max) and that was after a test wearing the same pajamas to bed for 3 nights (and yes I wore them for 3 days as well). That being said, I do notice that my linen closet has never smelled so good. Like I said, if you don't use the items the scent lasts much longer. I would buy this product again (even if the scents don't last that long) because quite frankly, I love the scent and the men in my life have never had their work clothes smelling so good (even for a short period of time). -

I love this! It works great on those items in the land that time forgot. You know the ones that sit on top of your kitchen cupboards ( deep fryer etc.). It gets that greasy dusty ick off with ease!
