I attended a beauty event last month, entitled "Beauty Date x MTL", hosted by Skinvestment. Apoterra Skincare's Exfoliating Facial Mud Hibiscus was one of the many discoveries from the event.
The brand is based in NYC and uses natural ingredients to resolve adult skincare issues such as dry skin, adult acne, and premature aging. The Exfoliating Facial Mud Hibiscus mask has a granular texture which comes from a combination of hibiscus, sugar, oats, yogurt, pumpkin and honey. The ingredients used in the mask make exfoliating so much more gentler and a great alternative for anyone with sensitive skin. And I've learned from the beauty event that hibiscus is considered as the “botox plant”, which helps the skin's cell renewal and improves elasticity!
I didn't expect to see such a tremendous difference in my skin after using it just once. I have really dry skin and my skin was so soft, it felt like baby's skin! And the scent of this mask is just divine, it smells like homemade jam. I'm glad to have discovered this little gem that can be used as a cleanser, mask and scrub!

Last month, I attended a beauty event entitled "Beauty Date x MTL" hosted by Skinvestment. Other than face masks, through the event, I was introduced with a Taiwanese brand - Aeria Skin and they've created sheet masks for the eyes!
Even though there are sheet masks in the market, I'm glad to see that there are masks available specifically for the eyes. Since the skin around the eyes are so thin and sensitive, I like that this eye mask used ingredients which are more natural, such as Mulberry, Grape and Centella asiatica extracts, and pure Geranium flower water.
The eye mask is derived from charcoal which helps brightens the skin and clears out impurities. I've also noticed that the eye mask was very hydrating and it reduced the puffiness and dark circles around the contour of my eyes.

Recently, I attended a beauty event entitled "Beauty Date x Montreal" hosted by Skinvestment and one of the sponsors was Benton. I've heard a lot about the brand and didn't get to test out their products yet. I really like that the brand has only a few line of products and each line focuses on specific ingredients.
I received the Benton - Tea Tree Cleansing Water and wondered how it differed from the micellar water which I usually use as my second cleanser. The Tea Tree Cleansing Water from Benton does a really amazing job in wiping away makeup and excess oil. It removed most of my makeup and even my eyes makeup. The cleanser has tea tree oil, it might sting a bit. So, I would recommend using an eye makeup remover rather than using the cleanser. However, if you put a small quantity on a cotton pad, it is quite gentle on the eyes.
Since the cleansing water contains tea tree oil, I've noticed that it has helped reduce some blemishes on my face. It has become a cleanser which I use on a daily basis and it doesn't dry out my skin either. I have to admit that the Benton - Tea Tree Cleansing Water has replaced my usual go-to micellar water!

A few weeks ago, I was delighted to have the opportunity to spend a lovely Saturday afternoon with beauty enthusiasts at the "Beauty Date x Montreal" event hosted by Skinvestment.
I've been using oils during the Winter to hydrate my skin and I was looking a lighter alternative for the Summer. At the event, I was more than thrilled to learn about Frutose, a Toronto-based skincare company, that uses fruit extracts to develop face oils and hair oils.
I was quite surprised that the fruit oils only had a very subtly scent to it, definitely not overpowering or too sweet. I have noticed that the finer lines near my eyes aren't as apparent anymore. I've also applied it at the bottom of my feet and they've become so soft now. I'd highly recommend the fruit oils from Frutose since they are lightweight and I find it perfect for the summer, either on the face or the body.

I attended "Beauty date x MTL" which was a beauty event hosted by Skinvestment. Finding the best sunscreen can be quite challenging and when I received BEVY C.'s Ultra Fine Daily Sun Protector (Green), I was eager to try this Taiwanese brand!
The texture sunscreen wasn't thick but it definitely needed to be massaged onto the skin and I was afraid that there would be a white cast. I have tried this sunscreen under liquid foundation and powder foundation, my skin looked so natural and it actually controlled the oil around my T zone area! It felt like the sunscreen created this smoothness on the skin and it seemed like it even hid my pores.I was able to keep a matte face throughout the day and made my dull skin looked so vibrant!

Last November, I received BEVY C.'s Lumiwhite Moist Up Emulsion when I attended a beauty event entitled "Beauty date x MTL" that was hosted by Skinvestment. Bevy C is a Taiwanese brand and the Moist Up Emulsion is part of the Lumiwhite's Pre-makeup collection.
The emulsion was light and creamy, which was absorbed into the skin very quickly. After applying only one layer of the product, I already felt that my skin was hydrated enough and I started debating whether I should put a moisturizer or not. I've decided to go ahead with just using my sunscreen and then applied my foundation. Usually around my nose area, it tends to become flaky at the end of the day, however, I was amazed to see that my skin stayed hydrated throughout the day and it blended so well with my makeup that it looked as if I wasn't even wearing any foundation!

I attended a beauty event entitled "Beauty date x MTL" that was hosted by Skinvestment and I received BEVY C.'s Lumiwhite Moist Up Elixir. Bevy C is a Taiwanese brand and Lumiwhite Moist Up Elixir is one of the products that is part of the Lumiwhite collection.
BEVY C.'s products have been giving me plenty of surpises and Lumiwhite Moist Up Elixir is indeed another pleasant surprise. The product is translucent and the texture is in-between toner and gel. I was able to see why the products in the Lumiwhite collection are highly recommended for those who wear makeup. I was amazed at how light it was and it was so hydrating! Even though I have dry skin, it can becoming oily, especially the T-zone area, at the end of the day. I've noticed that using Lumiwhite Moist Up Elixir, my face stayed matte throughout the whole day!

Last November, I attended "Beauty date x MTL" hosted by Skinvestment and I received BEVY C.'s Lumiwhite Moist Up Lotion. This is Taiwanese brand and one of their line of products, Lumiwhite, is developped to nourish the skin before makeup.
At first I thought BEVY C.'s Lumiwhite Moist Up Lotion was actually a lotion. It wasn't until I poured a bit on my hands that I realized it's a toner. So, don't let the name fool you! It's very light and didn't irritate my sensitive skin. I like that it dries up quickly because my skin has been quite dry lately and I put, at least, a few layers of toner before proceeding to my next skincare routine. Now I see why Bevy C. named the product "lotion" rather than "toner", my skin stayed moisturized and it didn't felt sticky even after I've patted three layers of this toner on my face. I can see myself using just this lotion and put on sunscreen during the Summer when my skin isn't as dry.

I love seeing innovative ideas when it comes to beauty products and during "Beauty date x MTL" - a beauty event hosted by Skinvestment, I received Healavie's Ice Breaking Cool Essence Mask from daint, who's a Korean beauty products curator. I have to applause Healavie for developing an effective sheet mask along with its creative concept.
Before opening the package that contained the mask, I had to break the ice stick that was included in the package and then shake it, so that it becomes cold. Recently, I have been struggling with rosacea, along with some acne, and the cooling sensation really helped calm down the redness. I feel like I could have worn the mask even longer because the mask was still quite moist after using it for 30 minutes. Aside from the diminished redness and my face was brighter, I noticed that my pores and the fine lines under my eyes were less apparent. I also enjoyed the scent of tea tree extract, it made me feel zen and very relaxed.

I have used many sheet masks however, upon receiving Healavie's Brightening Serum Masks from "Beauty date x MTL" - a beauty event hosted by Skinvestment, I was so surprised at the creamy texture of the serum! Even though the serum was creamy, it was actually quite light on the face, similar to an emulsion. The mask was drenched in serum and there was a lot serum left in the package after putting the mask, so I was able to use the rest on my neck. My skin became extremely moisturized and I certainly believe that the cream-like serum was the reason behind the smoothness of my skin. I felt like my skin was glowing! These masks are my go-to sheet masks during Winter because of its creamy serum and they have helped my dry skin stay hydrated to another level! -
