it takes up 3 AA batteries and once you start playing there is no stopping but please make sure you play it on a table or outdoors as the cute dog loves to dry itself and thus there will be water everywhere and I think this is why my kids love it as you can't predict when the dog is gonna shake overall its loads of fun perfect for upcoming holidays when this mommy has to entertain kids and family.
