My husband was excited to get to try something from the Review Club this time, since I was lucky enough to get two different scents from Chick Advisor and Schmidt's, and didn't get a chance to try both in time to review properly. He's also a big fan of Vetiver scented things, so I wanted him to try. Off the bat it was a win for him, someone who is sensitive to both scents and formulations. I've tried to get him to use other natural deodorants in the past to embrace our cruelty-free and natural product life, but every other brand we've tried so far has given him a painful rash. Not Schmidt's! He's used it for almost 2 weeks now with no rash to note and he still really likes the smell. Now, in my review for the Rose+Vanilla scented deodorant, I had to admit that I probably wouldn't buy it again for myself because it's more expensive than other natural brands that work as well for me, but my husband feels he would pay the difference from his regular drugstore brand, because it's a natural product he actually likes. He says because of the thickness of the natural formula as well, he needs to use less than normal so the price difference evens out. Definitely something to consider. I'm also thrilled he can now use something that doesn't contain aluminum (keep in mind this is a deodorant, not an antiperspirant). Thank you to Chick Advisor and Schmidt's for even helping me welcome my husband into the review club! -

I was so excited to #trySchmidtsNaturals in the Lavender Sage scent, because I make a point of only using products not tested on animals and being more natural is an added bonus! I've already switched to aluminum-free deodorants for the last few years, so I was looking forward to trying a new brand. I'll admit, using the product was nice. I work 12 hours running off my feet, and I was never worried about smelling sweat on my shifts using this, and the scent was lovely to put on in the morning. The issue is the residue. It's a very grainy solution, and it's a weird texture that you have to hold in your armpit for a second to warm it enough to spread on the rest of your skin. I definitely wouldn't feel confident using this with like a black dress or dark sleeveless top in the summer. It kind of feels like a homemade or small local company type of deodorant which, if I'm going to use it, I'd rather spend the money supporting a smaller company. Speaking of money, my friend happened to try this same deodorant in a different scent around the same time, and she mentioned how expensive it was - at my local grocery store, a stick of this is close to $9! I can get a similar product with less residue concerns for half that, and even less on sale. So while I enjoyed my trial and I'm always grateful to Chick Advisor that I #gotitfree, I think I'll be sticking to other products for now. -

Motrin has always been my go-to for body pain and normal headaches, and so when I #gotitfree as part of Chick Advisor's review campaign I knew it'd be used well. I don't experience menstruation so I couldn't try its effectiveness for period cramps BUT I do suffer from chronic migraines, especially when I'm stressed. Not so lucky for me but lucky for timing this review, I had migraines three days in a row last week which was the perfect opportunity to see how effective the Motrin would be for that - turns out it worked really well! Took a little longer to kick in than what I usually use for migraines, but I wanted to see if it would work because it's a bit less toxic than my normal routine. Turns out though that it does work, so now I'm so glad I've got another option when the inevitable headache returns! Thanks to Chick Advisor for allowing me to be part of this campaign! -

Was so excited to be picked to review the Vileda Scrunge Scrub Sponge, and it came just when I was thinking about changing the kind of sponges I buy. This sponge makes doing the dishes a pleasure! The scrubber portion is sturdy too - unlike other sponges, it doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart the first time I have to scrub burnt stuff off the bottom of a pot. I'd definitely consider buying these again...Here's the thing - true to my principles, I don't know if I can buy this sponge again ONLY because it's not compostable. I'm really trying to reduce my carbon footprint and throwing these Vileda sponges out after they're used (used for a long time first!) doesn't really fit that mold. I will absolutely enjoy using them in the meantime thanks to ChickAdvisor, really appreciative that I #gotitfree! -

I received this product to try FOR FREE through Chick Advisor's Product Review club, which never ceases to impress me with its offerings, and was so excited to try it. I'll be honest, if I wasn't such a strong supporter of buying exclusively from companies that don't test on animals, I'd definitely be adding this Clean and Clear Mask to my regular routine (unfortunately the Clean & Clear brand is part of a company that does test, so my usage will end with this container).
My skin was acting really weird right around the time I first tried the mask (really red, really sensitive, lots of pimples), and I don't know if it was timing or just how great it was, but after putting on the mask for 3 minutes, my skin looked exponentially less red the next day, with a huge reduction in whiteheads, too! I also really like the fresh tingly feeling after removing the mask. By some miracle, I even got my partner to try the mask, which is something I didn't expect he'd ever partake it, but he said he actually really liked using it too, although the tingling feeling was a bit off-putting to him because he doesn't normally do any kind of face wash.
Like I said, if this product wasn't tested on animals I would definitely buy it again, but I will be enjoying this container while I have it!

I will come out and say that this ice cream was not my favourite, nor my least favourite.
Pros: The vanilla ice cream part is really really nice. Lots of vanilla flecks and tastes real, not like it was just vanilla flavoured with some syrup. There's also a good amount of cookie to call itself "Cookies and Cream" ice cream. And of course there's the bonus of this ice cream being only 360 calories FOR THE WHOLE CONTAINER. That's less than a baked good at Starbucks, folks. So if you're watching your calories, this option doesn't compromise taste for that too much.
Cons: The lack of calories comes from the fact that I think this ice "cream" is more water than cream, because when you try to scoop, you have to leave it out for a few minutes first because it's rock solid. So that was a big con for me because I don't like the effort that goes into scooping in the first place. Second big con is the price. Obviously like I said, glad that I #gotitfree with ChickAdvisor but if I saw it on the shelf, I don't think the promise of less calories would sway me over the $7 price tag for 4 servings (and let's be real, nobody serious about weight loss is eating ice cream at all).
Definitely tasty, glad I got to try it and I think they're doing a good thing here. Remember to always read the labels closely!

I was so excited to receive the Nude By Nature products for FREE from ChickAdvisor, the Product Review Club never fails to impress! I have to say, I'm a little biased to give this review a lower mark, because the fact that the company is cruelty free outweighs all the other points, I am SO SO SO happy to find a quality brand that doesn't test on animals.
I actually did really like this primer. I used it for several days before reviewing to make sure it didn't react with my skin poorly and cause pimples (I have acne) and it seemed to do the job fine. I also REALLY like the scent of it for some reason, it makes me feel fancy. I am giving it lower marks however, because in comparison to other primers, I find this one very STICKY. If you rub it on the back of your hand, it doesn't feel as smooth as other primers that apply more like a lightweight moisturizer. The formula needs to be reworked to take care of that bit, because otherwise it's pretty great.

I was so excited to receive the Nude By Nature products for FREE from ChickAdvisor, the Product Review Club never fails to impress! I have to say, I'm a little biased to give this review a lower mark, because the fact that the company is cruelty free outweighs all the other points, I am SO SO SO happy to find a quality brand that doesn't test on animals.
The reason this specific product didn't get a higher mark is because as far as loose powder goes, this one's a little TOO loose. I used the makeup every day for about a week before reviewing, and I thought the first two days I might have just gotten the powder all over my bathroom because the jar had been shaken up in the mail. Unfortunately that continued every time I applied, because the powder is so light that half of it doesn't make it from the brush to my face, it just falls off. It also didn't stay on my face very well, and needed re-application. I would probably buy a powder from Nude by Nature again, especially if it was a compacted/pressed powder because I highly prefer those and I love the company. This specific product though needs to be reformulated to make it a tiny bit heavier.

I was so excited to receive the Nude By Nature products for FREE from ChickAdvisor, the Product Review Club never fails to impress! I don't have a lot of make-up brush experience, I'll be honest, but I'm so happy that Chick Advisor sent me this one so now I have a reference point as to what works well! This brush is great, it's really soft and doesn't make my face itchy like some other ones that I've tried. I also am pretty sure it's made of synthetic fibers since the company is cruelty-free, which I have to say makes it 100x better just for that fact alone. It's sturdy, despite the fact that I'm not a gentle makeup-applier so I like that it doesn't feel like it will fall apart in a few months. It also has a great grip on it. Would definitely recommend this brush to anyone who was asking what works well. -

Was SO excited to receive this product as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club, and I couldn't believe how fast it arrived for me to try! The high smoking point on this oil is definitely the best part... in terms of taste, it's about the same as other cooking oils, but my partner decided to try using this oil to "sear a cabbage" (???) and any other oil would definitely have set off the smoke alarms immediately, this one, because of the avocado, didn't burn as much! I was impressed. So far we've only used it on the cabbage and cooking chicken, but I enjoyed the taste insofar that I didn't taste it, and that's what I want with my cooking oils. I'd use it too in something where the oil adds flavour, because I like the smell. My partner and I have already decided that, if prices are comparable, we'd buy this oil over cooking olive oil (mostly based on the added benefit of Omegas and Vitamin E) for next time.
