Kat Von D has (to date) released 27 stunning liquid lipsticks in the widest range of colours I have ever laid my eyes on. They run for $24CAD, only available at Sephora or online. I got a hold of Santa Sangre in August and wanted to give my solid two-cents into this holy grail of lipstick.
TEXTURE:
The formula is beautiful and lightweight! It didn't seem to rest in any of my premature lip lines or make my lips look small or shrivelled (BONUSSS). So that's a big thumbs up for me. Tips and tricks - put an eos lip balm on, do your makeup, and pad off the excess before application - it makes your long wear liquid lipstick's life so much more comfortable and not at all rough.
LONGWEAR
I wore this today...for 6 hours. I ate and drank and did my absolute best not to touch it...AT ALL. Jeez was that hard. The corners of my lips did feather out, but I didn't have to retouch the bottom or top lines, which was a huge relief to me. The colour faded slightly from the inside of my lips but other than that, thumbs up from me! Disclaimer: I ate everything with a fork or through a straw!
And the colour...the pigmentation...*shakes head* just can't believe how amazing this is.
The biggest downfall? The brush. It has a lipgloss-like applicator that isn't extremely forgiving to clumsy people like me who get too excited for lipstick and put too much on their wand, creating those blotchy, sticky messes. Still not the worst wand in the world!
Will buy more. Next to grab is the shade "Berlin"

From a person that usually uses Vichy, La Roche Posay or NeoStrada, this product has been a lifesaver.
it's calming, hydrating, oil-free and very comfortable on the skin. It effectively removes any residue from my cleaner and face care system. Being only $8.99, it's a complete steal for those who would like a cheaper alternative to their demo-cosmetic brands. I've now been using this toner for two months instead of my Vichy one, and quite honestly I didn't see too much of a difference between them both
PROS
- cheap and effective
- oil-free
- calming, soothing
- comfortable feeling left on the skin
CONS:
- you'll have to use multiple cotton pads
- best used with a milk cleanser, which I do not have
- does not prevent against aging, no antioxidant benefits or hard water correction

This crazy comfortable acne treatment treats all kind of acne blemishes and imperfections, including stubborn blackheads. It DOES NOT dehydrate your skin, since the Benzoyl Peroxide content is micronized at 5.5%. Absolutely one (if not THE) best global acne medicated treatment currently on the market.
I personally have been using this product for three months, after trying various products by competing companies, and love the effacacy of this product. The fact that your acne doesn't seem to "dry up" and leave flaky dead skin parts on your face that you get to deal with later, is a LIFESAVER for a professional makeup artist.
SPECS:
- Micronized Benzoyl Peroxide (5.5%)
- LHA - micro-exfoliant to clear away debris and excess oil without stripping the skin
- non-drying, oil-free
- fast absorbing
CONS:
The only one I could think of is that this should be used as a treatment for moderate acne, so I would not reccomend this to my VERY severe acne client, which is a tough category to be placed into if you ask me.
I'm in Canada so I would find this product in Shoppers Drug Mart or Rexall. Make sure you ask your cosmeticians about this product first to ensure your skin aligns with the treatment.

This product is "ultra-matte" meaning that it STAYS PUT. Get this thing on your teeth and you're done for. Once it's in place, it does NOT move.
PROS:
- amazing hold
- crazy matte
- high pigmentation (what else do we expect out of NYX)
CONS:
- don't get it anywhere but it's intended spot - lipliners are the biggest help
- NOT meant for dry, chapped or aging lips
-

NOW THIS IS THE PRODUCT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR.
I just purchased this lippie and another from the soft matte lip cream collection, and since I'm so new to NYX, this was really a deal-maker for me. Like, take my money please.
BENEFITS:
- soft matte, meaning that it does not dry out my already-parched lips
- long wear, I even ate a sandwich with this guy on, and it fought through it
- creamy texture
- lightweight formula
- high pigment
DOWNFALLS
- may have to apply a second coat as the day wears on
The shade "San Paulo" is a cross between a dark pink and a red, which is perfect for my everyday wear habits. I can easily play this colour up with a more dramatic eye or even wear it on its own for a pop of colour to a neutral day. Because it's soft matte, I found that I can even layer this with a clear gloss without it running or bleeding whatsoever.
The soft matte itself did NOT dry out my lips (I know I said it previously, but I'm serious). It's creamy, it's buttery, it's soft and it's incredible..
I purchased this guy for $7.99CAN at my local Rexall Pharmacy
Editor's note: this review is for the shade "San Paulo"

Heard decent reviews about this product from a variety of sources, and everyone knows how much I love my red lipsticks, so I thought I would give this a shot. For one of the most 'red' colours that CoverGirl is now offering with their new lipstick line, I can't say I'm overly impressed.
EXPECTATIONS
A high pigment and soft lipstick, as advertised, with the longwear I already know that CoverGirl is capable of in their lipsticks
REALITY
The lipstick itself felt more like a balm that anything. The pigment was a few shades too pink to be called a 'cherry', and since it had the consistency of a balm, the pigment was widely spread when applied. This product didn't stay through my morning coffee either.
WHAT IT COULD BE AMAZING FOR
- If you want a splash of colour that lasts longer than a lippie marketed as a 'balm'
- beware of the colour mismatches, make sure you try the testers to find one that really works for you and your previous lip shade
- I really want to purchase one in a nude pink/rose colour for my everyday wear, since it doesn't seem to bleed at all, this wouldn't be a problem
When i go red, I go RED.
In the picture with my swatches:
- no lip primers were used
- the first, lighter swatch was me sweeping it across my arm ONCE
- the second, darker swatch was me enhancing the colour by running the stick over it THREE times

I didn't think my eyelashes had this much curl in them to give. Benefit had a massive innovation with this new launch, and after giving myself a while to really play with it and try it out in every sense, I am in love.
The formula is lightweight, non-sticky, instantly drying and HELLA curling. The brush itself has one side with shorter plastic bristles and the other end with longer ones, and I found this very helpful when trying to get those tricky lashes on the outside corners or the pesky bottom lashes.
It even curled my bottom lashes, by the way.
There are very tiny hooks in the brush, which really work to capture the lashes and extend the product through the entirety of it. 360 degree coverage, you got it.
DID IT FAIL DURING THE DAY?
My days usually consist of running around for anywhere between 10-12 hours, not having the change to fix my eye makeup. Did it hold? Absolutely.
WHAT ABOUT THEY'RE REAL?
"They're Real" is another award winning mascara produced by Benefit, however I had found that the formula for that one was a bit heavy for my lashes, which take a beating when i use fake lashes weekly if not daily. This formula has a much lighter weight and is more consistent in application than I personally found They're Real to be. HOWEVER, I found if I applied Roller Lash and then They're Real, the result was a curl that held all day with enhanced volume and length. C'est magnifique.
Did I mention it's not a complete struggle to get it off your face at night? Yeah it's not. Just waterproof makeup remover and you're all set.

"MAC Soft Ochre Pro Longwear Paint Pot" in the colour "Soft Ochre"
Let me start off by saying just how versatile this product is. Holy smokes, I don't know if there's anything it can't do. The paint pot itself was developed to be a cream eyeshadow and eye primer product. This shade specifically is a soft skin colour, with a yellow base. It is able to be applied in a thin layer over the eyelid, or thicker to show more pigment, being worn alone as a shadow or underneath shadows to provide longevity for the pigment and smooth, crease-free wear.
I purchased this product from MAC about two months ago for $25CAN, and as you can see, it's gotten much love. There is no other eye product that I have tried as a primer that can hold shadow this well, especially considering just how much I put my face through in a given day. IT. DOES. NOT. MOVE. The pigment itself is perfect for my olive skin tone, and because of that, even wearing it as eyeshadow to minimize the look of the pink and red veins I have naturally on my eyelid is more than effective.
You see this product ERRYWHERE, especially being used by Pro Makeup artists on youtube and instagram. I initially heard of this product from a instagrammer/ProMUA @mykie_ (check her out!), and I knew I had to give it a go. Man do I not regret that decision.
MAC also offers their paint pots in other shades, coming to a grand total of 24. They include: Layin' Low, Genuine Treasure, Dangerous Cuvee, Camel Coat, Constructivist, Rubenesque, Groundwork, Painterly, Frozen Violet, Chrome Angel, Chilled on Ice, Let's Skate, Antique Diamond, Stormy Pink, Bare Study, Quite Natural, Tailor Grey, Blackground, Let me Pop, Vintage Selection, Clearwater, Indianwood, Perky and Soft Ochre.
The most popular skin tones that I personally have seen used is Soft Ochre, Painterly and Camel Coat. I have recently purchased Indianwood and Quite Natural to use on clients who have a darker complexion as a shadow base and eye primer.

This product is my lifesaver. It creates a super-fine line, it's easy to apply, it feels like you're drawing on your line with a marker, and it doesn't come off. I find myself recommending it to my clients even though I don't carry the product full-time. I honestly find myself washing my face at night and still finding the eyeliner perfectly applied on my face.... yeah, waterproof makeup remover is an absolute necessity with this one.
There is no smudging, no tear-inducing ingredients, it doesn't move if you cry, or sweat, or rub lightly in that one OH CRAP moment you forget you're wearing liner.
Beautiful product, the only liquid liner I use, I even make the sacrifice of the price for it.
