Tata Harper Illuminating Moisturizer Review
.
I have tried quite a few of Tata Harper's products, and have found the formulations to be lovely; however there is something about the scent of her products that unfortunately just doesn't work for me. I don't have any sensitivities to fragrance... there's just something about the characteristic Tata scent that doesn't resonate with me. Am I the only one?
.
That said, I recently tried Tata Harper's Illuminating Moisturizer and it is heavenly. I don't find the scent to be quite as overpowering as her other products (still pretty strong though). This moisturizer is hydrating without making my skin feel oilier. .
Sometimes (as a plus 40 woman) I struggle with products that contain too much 'sparkle.' The shimmer in this product is made from diamond dust (Yep. really!) and it gives a beautiful, subtle shimmer... not too disco. I suffer from 1980's post-frosty makeup regret, so I will use any product with sheen with a very light touch. Tata's illuminating moisturizer is great under makeup, or over top of makeup as a light spot highlighter on high points.
Would I purchase? It wouldn't be number one on my list... simply because it is cost prohibitive. Once a few of my kids move out, and I can increase my skin budget... I'm all over it!

Sunday Riley's Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream
Moisturizers and I don't get along. My skin tends towards the oily side of things... and most moisturizers just don't feel great on my skin... they coat; don't absorb and they contribute to the oil slick that is my daily reality. One of my game-changing skin moments was the realization that I don't really need moisturizers.
Until I discovered Sunday Riley's Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream.
Here's what they say:
Tidal delivers an intense water drench plus two forms of hyaluronic acid for a more youthful, hydrated look. Papaya enzymes smooth and exfoliate, while alpha-arbutin and exotic floral extracts brighten hyperpigmentation spots and illuminate the complexion. Tidal significantly increases hydration within minutes and provides up to 24 hours of continuous moisture.
Here's what I think:
Tidal is beautifully hydrating without ever feeling oily, or filmy. The plumpification (is that a real word?) factor of this product is insane! My skin feels amazing when I use it: bouncy and full of hydration without any greasiness. Tidal has a very mild scent that disipates quickly and the texture is a light, cooling gel.
I love it over an oil/under an oil or by itself. I especially love Tidal as a final step after Hydrate and Etoile from Jordan Samuel Skin. Makeup applies nicely overtop.
Everyone's skin is different. Somethings will work for me, and not for you and vice versa. Skincare for me is 2 parts understanding your skin, and what it's asking for, and 1 part trial and error. I have already repurchased Tidal... I love it that much! The only criticism I have is I'm not a huge fan of the packaging (straight up jar - easy to contaminate). Other than packaging issues, I adore Tidal.

LANCER RETEXTURIZING TREATMENT CREAM GLYCOLIC ACID 10X
Finally had the opportunity to try a product from Dr. Lancer (is he Kim K’s Dermatologist?). I’d read a bit about his ‘skincare diet’ philosophies, which seem actually quite healthy and logical (But NO FUN!). At any rate, it’s holiday party season in Canada and I have been binging on everything booze and sugar laden. Normally, I’m a pretty healthy eater, and I truly notice the effects of poor eating/too much sugar/too much vino on my skin.
THEY SAY:
This lightweight, moisturizing cream uses 10% glycolic acid and cell-function optimizers to help speed cell turnover, lighten discolorations, open pores, and enhance the effect of other treatments.
Initially apply once daily. If there is no irritation, applications can be increased to twice daily. Do not exceed two applications daily unless directed by a physician.
MY THOUGHTS:
This cream has a nice texture, thick like a balm… but it absorbs almost immediately. Skin is left feeling very hydrated. I hear THE HIRONS voice in my head every time a company makes a claim of ‘opening pores.’ “Pores are not doors!” This is a lovely, hydrating 10% strength glycolic acid product. I only used it at night, because I found the product balled up as I layered things over it. I don’t think it would ‘play nicely’ with makeup. It has a very light scent. The ingredients say there’s a touch of lavender oil, but to me it smelled like the wet wipes you get at greasy fried chicken joints. For an acid newbie, or someone who is sensitive to acid use, I think this product would be one I’d recommend. It’s incredibly gentle and hydrating and will not ‘make your face fall off.’ Retexturizing Treatment Cream with Glycolic Acid 10x is quite a lovely product that gently exfoliates while nourishing the skin. Myself, I am an old haggis…. a hardened user of acids. I require a little more ‘oomph’ with my acids! I want to look in the mirror in the morning and say “YAAAASSSSZZZZ!” I have a small sample, and have been using for a little over a week. I definitely notice small improvements in texture but wouldn't give up my Sunday Riley Good Genes for this.

I have also been using this on the kiddies in those 'WOW, you really should have showered!' moments.
This product is a game changer, and I will not be without it. Lazy moms unite :)
I may never shower again!

Use this stuff all the time. It's healthy and easily spreadable... so it's great for sammies. It's fairly mild tasting, so it also works well for baking.

I had a few sad episodes where my kids used my $30 salon shampoo and conditioner as bubblebath that led me to try this brand. Tresemme is terrific. It works and it's inexpensive enough that I don't feel sad when my kids pour it down the drain.

Thanks Mabel's Labels for making Back to School just a little bit easier. I absolutely love these! My kids are having a hoot sticking them on everything. With 6 kids, it's difficult keeping track of all their gear. I tend to do a weekly or bi-weekly peruse of the Lost and Found Bin for this reason. I especially love the shoe stickers!
Will definitely repurchase!

Damn! This stuff is so good that it should be illegal.
I have been buying Nutella for many years but the only thing I ever put it on is a spoon that goes into my mouth. I question the 'nutritious' claims the company makes, as Nutella is essentially chocolate and sugar. I don't feed it to my children for that reason.
But holy maude is Nutella ever delicious and addictive.
