I have oily, acne-prone skin that frequently becomes congested with blackheads and a bumpy texture, so I hoped this product would help smooth my skin. PanOxyl Acne Wash contains 4% benzoyl peroxide. Its creamy texture lathers less than other cleansers I’ve tried, which isn’t negative, just something to mention. The instructions recommend massaging the wash into the skin for two minutes before rinsing off, which differs from other face wash products I use. I applied about a quarter-sized amount on my face twice daily. The scent is quite strong and smells like peroxide, which I didn’t enjoy. When I incorporated this into a double cleansing routine on makeup days, my skin felt tight and dry after using it as the second cleanser. Used alone, it was less drying. Although the formula includes three humectants and four emollients intended to combat dryness, I still experienced dryness, so I didn’t find those ingredients effective personally. I think I’d need to reduce usage to once a day or less to minimize dryness. On a positive note, I didn’t experience peeling, irritation, or staining of clothes or towels. I did notice some improvement in skin congestion; my skin felt a bit less bumpy, and I had fewer visible blackheads. However, the wash didn’t help reduce the size of a large pimple I had at the time. Overall, PanOxyl Acne Wash helped with congestion and blackheads, but was somewhat drying for my skin.

When shopping for sunscreen, I look for products that provide high SPF and broad-spectrum protection and do not feel heavy or greasy. The Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral SPF 50 spray checks all the boxes.
This sunscreen spray was easy to use, shake and spray. When pressed, the nozzle provides a steady, continuous stream of sunscreen. When sprayed on the skin, it leaves a bit of a white cast, but once rubbed in, it disappears. This sunscreen is not overly greasy feeling on the skin, absorbs quickly and is also water resistant for 80 minutes.
The sunscreen contains no fragrance or parabens and is designed for sensitive skin; I didn’t have skin irritation while using it. It’s zinc oxide-based, which provides broad-spectrum protection against the sun’s rays (UVA/UVB). It also contains skin-soothing organic aloe, and it felt nice on my skin, leaving a subtle shine.
The lid locks and unlocks; stopping sunscreen from leaking into your beach bag. I also like the pretty blue-coloured packaging with the cute lizard logo. In addition, Blue Lizard has made this sunscreen without Oxybenzone or Octinoxate to protect the reef ecosystem. This resonates with me as I actively look for brands and products that are planet-friendly.
I usually buy a liquid sunscreen product, but I liked using a spray format. The application can be quick; however, it was windy when I was using the product, and it took a bit longer as I had to spray in between wind gusts. I’m glad I got to try this sunscreen, and I’m ready for whatever summer has in store with Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral SPF 50 Spray!

I tried the TheraBreath Fresh Breath Oral Rinse in Icy Mint. It’s clinically proven to fight bad breath for 12 hours and is Canadian Dental Association Validated. It was founded by a dentist-Dr. Harold Katz (his photo is on the bottle!) and is the “fastest growing mouthwash”. Its magic ingredient is Sodium Chlorite used to unleash the power of oxygen to fight bad breath. I am not sure how a mouthwash “powered by oxygen” exactly works but it makes me think this could be an innovative oral care product and it sounds cool.
The directions for use are easy to follow and the mouthwash should be used twice a day after brushing and flossing. To use fill the orange cap with mouth wash and then “It’s Swishy Time”; rinse for one minute. Follow with a second cap full of mouthwash and gargle for 30 seconds to clean your throat (where bacteria hides). I love mint and enjoy the icy mint flavour; it tastes minty but also feels cool in your mouth. I found my mouth still felt fresh for a bit after use and it didn’t burn or irritate by mouth or gums as its alcohol free. (I tried rinsing for longer than the recommended one-minute time to see if it would burn but it still didn’t). I like that the product has no dye, the mouth wash is completely clear in colour. This mouthwash is only for adults aged 18 plus so keep it away from the kiddos.

I got to try Listerine Total Care Zero mouthwash for free in exchange for my honest review thanks to Butterly and Listerine. I enjoy anything with a mint flavour and was excited that I received a bottle in mild mint flavour. This formula contains no alcohol and has a less intense taste. I occasionally have inflamed gums and like that this mouthwash can prevent and reduce gingivitis! Pour out 20mLs and rinse for 30 seconds (the bottle has a child resistant cap). I found it does have a less intense taste compared to other mouth washes from the brand, but the intensity starts to increase the longer you rinse. My mouth was left pleasantly fresh and minty and the feeling lasts! If you’re looking for a less intense minty mouth wash try this one out!

I got to try the flawless cleanse facial cleanser & massager in rose gold for free in exchange for my honest review thanks to Butterly and Church & Dwight Canada. Firstly, the colours of the unit, pink with rose gold are beautiful and complementary. The bristles on the cleansing head are silicone and are very soft on the skin. It’s lightweight and very simple to use, press the button on the back to choose one of the four modes (gentle cleanse, deep cleanse, massage or massage and cleanse) and hold for two seconds to turn the unit off. My favourite is the deep clean and massage setting, it provides a lovely gentle massage, and I am cleaning and massaging in one simple step. I applied my liquid facial cleanser directly to the cleansing head, after using my skin wasn’t irritated and felt very soft and clean. I like that I can get a deep clean, I don’t always spend enough time working my cleanser into my skin and sometimes rush when washing my face, this product helps ensure I am getting a better cleanse in a short amount of time. I like that it’s rechargeable and there is no need for batteries making it more eco-friendly! It can be used in or out of the shower as it’s waterproof. Finally, another bonus is that you can apply your serum or moisturizer onto the cleansing head and massage it right into your skin (amazing!). Cleaning the unit is very easy, rinse under the tap and you’re done. This product is very gentle, the only thing I would change is to have a mode that is a bit stronger to get a stronger/deeper massage for the face. Love this new and innovative Flawless Facial Cleanser.

This product can be used as a base for makeup or to reduce shine or oil for the skin. I have oily skin, and a product that reduces oil is something that I would love to have in my daily skincare routine. This primer also contains adaptogens such as Ashwagandha to help improve the skin barrier.
The primer comes easily out of the tube and it's very easy to apply. Go light with this one, you only need a pea-sized amount. The texture is clear and gel-like. When I applied it to my skin it just melted in and blended very well into a water-like texture. My skin looked smoother and felt instantly more hydrated. My skin was also matte and without shine. I also found it had a wonderful cooling effect on my skin. I did see a mild improvement in the look of my pores. I tried this product under my foundation and found I was easily able to apply my foundation without any piling. Excellent hydrating primer, 10/10!

I got to try Mighty Patch Original thanks to Butterly in exchange for my honest review. The timing of receiving the product was excellent as I was in the middle of an acne flare-up. I received a full-sized product, a box of 36 patches. These are hydrocolloid patches that pull out the gunk from your pimples overnight. They come in one size and are applied directly to the pimple. I applied patches to pimples in various stages (ones with a white head visible and ones that did not have a white head visible) and I tried it on large blackheads. For pimples with white heads, the patches did pull out the gunk. This is visible on the pimple patch in the morning along with a smaller-sized pimple. For blackheads and pimples with no whiteheads, no gunk was removed. I suggest waiting until you have a whitehead before applying the patches to get the most out of the product. The patches stuck well to the skin and stayed on overnight. I did not have any skin irritation either. These are definitely worth it if you have a pimple with a whitehead. However, I wish the product was able to shrink pimples before the whitehead forms. @herocosmetics_ca -

I found the product to be hydrating and blended into my skin well without being too greasy. This product exfoliates to help with bumpy skin such as KP. I have KP and I found that my bumps we reduced in size when using the product. I like that the product is unscented and does not contain dyes or parabens. It comes in a 227-gram jar which I think will last a while as you don’t need tons of product. The price is reasonable at under $25. If you have KP that is bothersome, give this product a try.
