If you love a good butter tart, (like I do), you’re going to love Chapman’s premium pecan butter tart ice cream! This new addition to Chapman’s line of premium cream is made with high-quality ingredients, including 100% Canadian dairy, maple, praline pecans, and buttery sugar cookies. You get a full 2L tub- no shrinkflation here, and it’s made in Canada!
This was my first time trying a Pecan Butter Tart Ice Cream. What I noticed first is the chunks of sugar cookies that reminded me of a butter tart shell. I love that there are a lot of crunchy praline pecans and that this ice cream is sweet, rich and creamy. You can taste the rich maple flavour. I love dessert, and a small scoop of this ice cream satisfied my sweet tooth. This delicious premium ice cream was a hit and will be a favourite for the summer!

I love chocolate, so I was happy to try an assortment of Ferrero Rocher’s chocolate squares! These are great to share or to keep all to yourself when you are craving chocolate. Each individually wrapped square comes in a gold packaging with the classic Ferrero Rocher logo. I got to try all the flavours: Milk Hazelnut, Dark Hazelnut and White Hazelnut. The first thing I noticed when I unwrapped the squares was the Ferrero Rocher logo stamped on each chocolate square. They are thin, but a good-sized square, and one was enough to satisfy my chocolate craving. Each chocolate flavour was smooth and creamy. However, I found the chocolate shell overpowered the other features of the chocolate, such as the hazelnut flavour, crunchy crispies and creamy filling. I found this was the case for each one of the chocolate flavours. I am a huge fan of dark chocolate, and the dark hazelnut was my favourite of the three as it was the least sweet. The white hazelnut was a bit too sweet for me, and the milk hazelnut was sweet enough. The squares didn’t crumble when I bit into them, but they melted quickly! Overall, these are nice to have on hand, but some improvements are needed to better balance the chocolate shell with the crunchy crispies and creamy filling. Product was gifted by Ferrero Rocher. -

I love scented bath products as they help me take a moment to slow down and focus on my self-care routine. Gourmand scents are one of my favourites, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that this shower oil has a wonderful light almond scent. It reminded me of being at the spa. Despite this being a shower oil, it’s not greasy and has a silky feel. I used it with a bath pouf, and it lathered well without needing to use a lot of product. Immediately after using it, I noticed my skin felt softer and more hydrated. It also rinsed away without leaving residue on my skin, which is a huge plus for me as I don’t like my skin feeling greasy. This shower oil contains 30% botanical oils, including almond oil (softens skin) and grape seed oil (nourishes and softens skin). I found the scent didn’t last once out of the shower. Overall, this is a lovely, hydrating and great-smelling shower oil. Add this little luxury to your own self-care routine.

We all have days when our stomachs just hurts! It could be a virus, indulging in too many delicious treats, or maybe it’s those extra couple of drinks at a party. For times when your stomach isn’t at its best, reach for DGL. I tried DGL by AOR when I ate a bit too much on a night out, and my stomach was not happy about it. DGL comes as a chewable tablet, which is convenient, especially if you don’t like swallowing pills.
It’s easy to chew and dissolves quickly. I like the licorice and lemon flavour (I found it to taste more licorice than lemon). After chewing one tablet, it started working quickly, and I felt relief from my upset stomach. This chewable tablet is made from deglycyrrhizinated licorice root, and it works when the DGL mixes with your saliva. It helps to protect and soothe the digestive tract and decrease inflammation. These tablets are vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free, which is helpful if you prefer non-GMO supplements or have a dietary restriction. This proudly Canadian product is backed by science, and you can buy it both online and in person at your preferred health food store. If you need fast relief from an upset stomach, try DGL!

Are you looking for a sweet oat milk coffee that’s easy to travel with? Try Hatch’s Coffee Maple Oatado! This is Hatch’s take on a Cortado, made with oat milk, espresso-strength coffee, and maple syrup, of course. It’s ready to drink right from the can, just give it a shake. The 100mL can is compact, adorable and easy to take on the go. I love the graphic on the can. What’s more Canadian than a beaver dressed as a Canadian Mountie? I also love that it has maple syrup and oak milk, and I can take it on the go. I found it to be sweet enough on its own; there's no need to add anything. I could taste the coffee and the sweetness from the maple syrup with each sip. The oat milk gives it a nice creamy texture. Each can has a 100mg of caffeine. The Oatado contains canola oil. I tried the Canadian-made Myoflex maximum strength deep penetrating pain relief rub. I used it after I was feeling the effects of a tough workout that left me with neck, shoulder and back pain. The key ingredient in this rub is triethanolamine salicylate 20%. It’s easy to apply and absorbs quickly without feeling greasy. This is important to me because I don’t want to use anything that could stain my clothing. The label says it's odour-free, but I found it to have a slight lavender scent, which I like. I love that within a few minutes of applying Myoflex, I noticed a large decrease in my neck, shoulder and back pain; it wasn’t 100% gone, but I felt a noticeable difference. The rub would be even easier to apply if it came with a flip cap (currently has a fully removable cap). If you want to try Myoflex, you can find it at the pharmacy or online. Overall, this rub is easy to apply, quick absorbing and effective at reducing muscle pain. -

Omega-3 fish oil supplements usually cause me to reflux and leave me with an unpleasant fishy aftertaste and fishy burps. Because of this, I usually stop taking them rather quickly. Would I ever find a supplement that doesn’t cause these issues? The Now Ultra Omega-3 softgels claim not to have a fishy aftertaste. I was skeptical at first because they smelled fishy in the bottle, and I don’t like the taste of fish. Well, I am happy to share that after trying them, I didn’t experience a fishy aftertaste or have fishy burps.
This Canadian-made high-quality omega-3 fish oil (anchovy) supplement (packaged in Guelph, Ontario) packs 250 mg of DHA and 500mg of EPA to decrease triglycerides, help heart health and brain function. The enteric-coated yellow soft gels are rather large but are soft and easy to swallow. I took 2 softgels at lunchtime with no problems. In addition to loving the no fishy aftertaste, I am happy to know that the fish oil is manufactured with strict quality control standards and tested for contaminants like PCBs, dioxins, mercury, and heavy metals. This helps me feel confident that this is a high-quality supplement. The bottle is made with recycled plastic, so that’s a bonus. If you’re looking to try them out, they are available to buy at your favourite health food store, either in person or online. Overall, this is a high-quality Omega-3 fish oil supplement that is easy to swallow and doesn’t leave a fishy aftertaste.

I have used other face wash products with salicylic acid and found them drying and a bit irritating to my face. I was pleasantly surprised that this Panoxyl Acne Gel Wash with 2% salicylic acid didn’t dry out my skin or leave it feeling irritated. This gel-to-foam cleanser starts as a gel and foams when mixed with water; I used 1 to 2 pumps to wash my face. I used it once a day as my evening cleanser. It left my skin feeling clean. I wouldn’t say my skin was hydrated, but rather that my skin didn’t feel dry and tight after washing. It also left my skin looking matte as it contains zinc, which was great for my oily, acne-prone skin. I didn’t experience any new breakouts while using this face wash. I am not sure if it’s supposed to remove makeup, but I used this while wearing light eye makeup (non-waterproof), and it came off with the cleanser. I like that it’s made without fragrance, parabens, or phthalates. Product gifted by Revance (Canada).

I have oily, acne-prone skin that frequently becomes congested with blackheads and a bumpy texture, so I hoped this product would help smooth my skin. PanOxyl Acne Wash contains 4% benzoyl peroxide. Its creamy texture lathers less than other cleansers I’ve tried, which isn’t negative, just something to mention. The instructions recommend massaging the wash into the skin for two minutes before rinsing off, which differs from other face wash products I use. I applied about a quarter-sized amount on my face twice daily. The scent is quite strong and smells like peroxide, which I didn’t enjoy. When I incorporated this into a double cleansing routine on makeup days, my skin felt tight and dry after using it as the second cleanser. Used alone, it was less drying. Although the formula includes three humectants and four emollients intended to combat dryness, I still experienced dryness, so I didn’t find those ingredients effective personally. I think I’d need to reduce usage to once a day or less to minimize dryness. On a positive note, I didn’t experience peeling, irritation, or staining of clothes or towels. I did notice some improvement in skin congestion; my skin felt a bit less bumpy, and I had fewer visible blackheads. However, the wash didn’t help reduce the size of a large pimple I had at the time. Overall, PanOxyl Acne Wash helped with congestion and blackheads, but was somewhat drying for my skin.

When shopping for sunscreen, I look for products that provide high SPF and broad-spectrum protection and do not feel heavy or greasy. The Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral SPF 50 spray checks all the boxes.
This sunscreen spray was easy to use, shake and spray. When pressed, the nozzle provides a steady, continuous stream of sunscreen. When sprayed on the skin, it leaves a bit of a white cast, but once rubbed in, it disappears. This sunscreen is not overly greasy feeling on the skin, absorbs quickly and is also water resistant for 80 minutes.
The sunscreen contains no fragrance or parabens and is designed for sensitive skin; I didn’t have skin irritation while using it. It’s zinc oxide-based, which provides broad-spectrum protection against the sun’s rays (UVA/UVB). It also contains skin-soothing organic aloe, and it felt nice on my skin, leaving a subtle shine.
The lid locks and unlocks; stopping sunscreen from leaking into your beach bag. I also like the pretty blue-coloured packaging with the cute lizard logo. In addition, Blue Lizard has made this sunscreen without Oxybenzone or Octinoxate to protect the reef ecosystem. This resonates with me as I actively look for brands and products that are planet-friendly.
I usually buy a liquid sunscreen product, but I liked using a spray format. The application can be quick; however, it was windy when I was using the product, and it took a bit longer as I had to spray in between wind gusts. I’m glad I got to try this sunscreen, and I’m ready for whatever summer has in store with Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral SPF 50 Spray!
