You can only assume two ravishing women, Jen (left) and Kena (right), who spend every day with one another might have similar tastes in makeup. But despite the tight-knit business partners that they are, these ladies know what they like and they're sticking to it!
Tell us about you!
K: I am the Co-founder and Crafter of Brand at BRIKA, which means I'm responsible for the product assortment, the content and the brands' overall look and feel. After years of working in the corporate world with brands like Gap, Joe Fresh and Indigo, it is amazing to put all my skills and experience into my dream job—I love what I do so much!
J: I am the Co-founder and Builder of Business at BRIKA. Though I spent most of my life playing the cello, I somehow ended up in business. It took me over a decade in the corporate world to discover the entrepreneur in me, but I definitely believe I have found my passion.
What do you wash your face with? What moisturizer do you use?
K: I'll admit it—I can be lazy when it comes to washing my face (although I always take off my mascara!) When I do wash my face, I usually use either Aveeno or Korres cleansing wipes. I used to run an eco-friendly shop in Toronto, so I love my green beauty products. Some of my favourites are Neal's Yard, Antipodes and Skinceuticals.
J: I use Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser and Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Cream SPF 30 daily. I switch it up when I travel with Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser, Algenist Concentrated Reconstructing Serum and Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 20
Describe your average morning makeup routine, from the first thing you put on, to the last.
K: My make-up routine varies based on what I'm doing that day. For a day at the office I put on a bit of Stila Perfecting Concealer, curl my eyelashes and add a few strokes of NARS Blush in Torrid on my cheek bones. If I have meetings to attend, I'll step it up with liquid liner and mascara. Come evening, I gussy up with a dusting of Smashbox Eyeshadow and a sultry MAC lipstick. Oh, and I have thick eyebrows, so I never skimp out on Benefit's Instant Brow Pencil.
J: I start with a moisturizer as a base and let that absorb. Next, I tackle the eye region, starting with liquid liner, a subtle sweep of Trish McEvoy Eyeshadow, a sexy smudge of Giorgio Armani's "Smooth Silk" Eye Pencil in gray and a few swipes of mascara to finish. I then use Hourglass Oil-Free Mattifying Foundation solely because the woman who sold it to me mentioned it was Madonna's favourite brand. (Can you blame me?) With just a bit of blush and a healthy application of Korres Lip Butter in Quince, my face is ready to go!
If you need to get foxy in seconds, what is the one product you reach for?
K: Highlighter—it adds a radiance to your face that also looks great in photos. I'm currently using Benefit Watt's Up.
J: Eyeliner—I find it instantly makes me look older than 16!
