You've called the Beeswax Lip Balm unbelievable. You've claimed the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream works like magic. It's clear that Burt's Bees is receiving some rave reviews among you ChickAdvisor members. But how much do you know about the brand bringing you your favourites? Check out these 7 fun facts about the company:
  1. Burt's Bees products consist of ingredients that can be found in nature, such as beeswax, botanical and essential oils, herbs, flowers and minerals.
  2. The company originally sold candles from the beeswax created from Burt Shavitz's honey business. Roxanne Quimby and Shavitz have been at the core of the company since the candle business's beginnings in 1984 Maine.

  3. A few years later, Burt's Bees' expansion led the duo to set up shop in an abandoned bowling alley, where they hired 40 employees.
  4. By the late 80s, a natural soap and perfume line was introduced, and by 1994, BB could call 50 products its own. Some were being distributed as far away as Japan.

  5. In 2002, BB purchased tracts of forest land in northern Maine to preserve them from development.
  6. The company created a public service announcement to raise awareness about Colony Collapse Disorder, a mysterious disorder accounting for millions of disappearing honey bees, which garnered much buzz before the release of Bee Movie, starring Jerry Seinfeld and Renée Zellweger.

  7. BB was voted the second greenest brand in the U.S. in 2009.
