Fresh, naturally young skin has an expiry date. It comes due sometime post puberty - a tiny window of time between the acne-ravaged teen years and the last year or two before your 30th birthday (or as I like to call it, the first anniversary of my 29th).
Many skincare specialists claim we should start wrinkle prevention in our early 20s for best preservative results. In the past most anti-aging products have been marketed to mature women, but recently a new push for younger consumers is gaining strength.
Mother Nature, it seems, needs a helping hand. And while this may sound a little gloomy, the extra excuse to pamper yourself can't hurt, no? We researched the top rated hold-back-the-hands-of-time products, right here:
Best Anti-Aging Skincare line: Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Ageless
Cost: $10-$30
You said: "I have age spots and discoloration from being a sun worshiper in the 70s. After using [Aveeno], I have noticed significant and remarkable improvement in my skin."
Our tip: You can find valuable coupons for these products, and when paired with a sale it is an excellent value.
Best for Puffy Eyes: Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller
Cost: $15ish
You said: "I have found this to be so helpful in reducing the dark circles and removing the puffiness, that my husband tried it and he is now addicted to it too."
Our tip: The product and applicator are cool against your skin; soothing and effective!
Best for Bags and Dark Circles: Benefit Ooh La Lift
Cost: $22ish
You said: "It has no scent and once applied you will see instant results."
Our tip: Ooh La Lift can be used under or over makeup, so carry it in your bag for on-the-go easy touch ups.
Best Wrinkle Zapper: L'Oreal Paris Skin Genesis Serum
Cost: $19ish
You said: "I can honestly say that this is the best serum that I have used. I noticed when I applied it, it was noticeable that my laugh lines immediately diminished."
Our tip: Be careful in the eye area; those with sensitive skin may experience irritation.
Best Aging Preventative: Lise Watier Sun Smart Universal UV Shield
Cost: $38
You said: "It is so silky soft, doesn't clog my pores and is non-greasy so it doesn't affect makeup application. It is also the only product with SPF I've tried on my face that doesn't get shiny later on in the day."
Our tip: Sun protection ranks right up there with a proper diet, no smoking, and adequate sleep as top DIY anti-aging measures. If your daily moisturizer doesn't contain SPF, make sure to apply a light sunscreen every morning.
