Bite Size Banana Split Recipe

Posted by Alexandra C. | Friday January 27, 201226 comments

What if you had a banana split that you could put into your mouth all at once? It would be pretty great, right? After spotting a picture of a mini banana split online, I couldn't get them out of my mind.

While these would be perfect for a child's birthday or slumber party, I don't see why grownups can't get in on the fun.  Pair with a pudding shot, perhaps?

Ingredients:

Bananas
White, Milk, Semi-sweet, or Dark Chocolate  (baker's chocolate or chocolate chips)
Sprinkles
Ice Cream or Whipped Cream
Cherries (real or maraschino) or another fruit

Cut up a banana into bite sized pieces, I cut mine about 3-5 inches long but the size is totally up to you.

Next, melt chocolate in small bowl. If you're feeling fancy and want to give Martha Stewart a run for her money, try melting your chocolate with using the double bowl method. However, if you're like me and just want to get to the eating and enjoying part, melt the chocolate in the microwave. Just be sure to stir every 30-40 seconds and add some milk for a smoother consistency if desired.

Dip one end of the banana into chocolate (using your fingers is the easiest).  Feel free to cover the entire banana with chocolate, if that's how you prefer it.

I also invited white chocolate (lower left) to the party.  Good idea, right?

From the chocolate, transfer the banana into a small bowl of sprinkles. You might need to use your fingers to pat down the sprinkles.

Adding my choice of toppings is the best part! I didn't have any whipped cream on hand so I used a dollop of ice cream.  When fresh cherries or berries aren't in season, frozen blueberries (pictured) or maraschino cherries work well.  I would also recommend a drizzle of chocolate or caramel syrup as a possible option.

Now excuse me while I drool.
