We are primarily plant based at home so we eat a lot of tofu. Since we live in a suburb in Toronto that doesn't have an ethnic store, I am happy to find sunrise tofu readily available at my local grocery store (Walmart, Sobeys etc). It is really affordable and 1 package makes 4 servings so you can really stretch it far. I love making stir frys, baked as bites and even cold in a sandwich. Tip: if you freeze it and defrost it, it gets very chewy like meat! -

I was so excited to hear that Becel was releasing a new vegan margin. This meant that it would be readily available in most grocery stores at an affordable price. I love how buttery this product tastes on top of toast, crumpets and english muffins, especially with jam. I even made oatmeal cookies with these and it turned out great. I just hope they can find a sustainable replacement for palm oil -

I received this Garnier Whole Blends Castor Oil Shampoo for free for testing and review purposes. I'm not used to using commercial brands like this and i did immediately find that this shampoo was really strong smelling. It lathers really well so you don't need very much. I also did notice a castor oil smell and after 3 days it still left my hair smelling and looking really soft and fresh. This shampoo is made to strengthen damaged and thinning hair, so I think if you are looking for this type of product then give it a try. For me however I would pass -

I received the Garnier Whole Blends Castor Oil for free for testing and review purposes. What i really like about this conditioner is that it is really thick and creamy. When I use conditioner, I usually use a small amount, about a quarter size, but because this is so thick and creamy I actually need half that amount. It smells great and leaves my hair feeling soft and I did notice that my split ends were "stronger". However I usually don't buy products like this and probably won't in the future but ta's just my own preference -

I love pasta and have it once a week. I especially love the catelli smart spaghetti since you get the added nutritional benefits with eating it. There's no difference in this spaghetti when compared to regular spaghetti which is great because you can still enjoy a pasta dish without feeling guilty. I stock up on these when they're on sale for $1 -

I got this for free for review and testing purposes. What the serum is made for is to strengthen your hair from breakage and thinning. For me I do have a concern about split ends. I usually don't use leave in products but what I did like about this serum was that it didn't make my hair feel sticky or wet which was nice. I did find however that the smell was a bit too strong for me. Personally it's not for me because I don't like to use leave in products but I'm sure for other people it would be a good product to try. -

I received a coupon for the Becel plant based salted brick for free from Family Rate for review purposes. I decided to put this brick to the ultimate test by baking up a batch of chocolate chip cookies, which are usually made with butter. I usually find that when using a butter alternative, this chocolate chip dough usually comes out more cakey and less like a cookie. However after baking with the plant based salted brick, the cookies came out so melted, thin and chewy that it could easily fool anyone into thinking it was actually made with butter. I highly recommend this as a 1 for 1 replacement for butter in all of your baking needs. -

I prefer unsalted for baked goods so that you can control the flavour and outcome of the process. To be honest when I first heard about this product I knew I wanted to try it immediately. My household is vegan so I am always looking for an affordable butter substitute for baked goods. I've tried other brands before but they don't work the same way as the becel one does.
Firstly, it actually feels and looks like real butter. When you leave it in the countertop to soften for a few hours you can easily cream it for your baking needs.
Secondly it melts and bakes like butter. The first thing I wanted to test this stick with is chocolate chip cookies. Depending on the quality of the fat being used, sometimes the cookies don't come out flattened or chewy or the right consistency in general. This truly passed the test and have me cookies that could pass as non-vegan (check out my photo!)
The only thing negative I have to say is that it does use palm oil and since we know that sourcing palm oil is very detrimental to the environment, I would be purchasing this less as to not increase demand
