Hot Trend: The Maxi Summer Dress

| Sunday July 4, 20102 comments
Just when everyone thought the Maxi dress (AKA Maximum length dress) had seen sunnier days, it’s back and sexier than ever.   Bolder prints, more vibrant colors and daring cut outs are just a few of the ways this frock has transitioned into a Summer 2010 must–have.

Splurge: The Milly Printed silk-chiffon Maxi’s cut and print is pure perfection ($545, Net-A-Porter).  T-Bags also got it right with their Jersey maxi halter dress ($290, Net-A-Porter)

Modest Luxury: A Wear’s Eclectic Printed Silk Maxi could easily be worn day or night ($100, Asos); the Cutout Maxi from Top Shop dares to bare - just a peek, though ($250, Topshop).

Steal: Elle plays on the hottest summer print with the Elle Floral Maxi Dress ($37.99, Kohl’s), while Target's smocked top Maxi from Liberty of London is another trendy favourite ($34.99, Target).

The Maxi comes and goes as do its bold prints and colors, so this might be a trend you should “Steal”.  Will you be leaving the legs to the imagination this summer?

i think maxi dresses are soo beautiful , especially what ali described, when they weaar a maxi dress and their hair is in a messy bun or some sort and just throw on a pair of sunglasses. i think its classy and chic.
but it doesnt suit shorter people.. at all. well, atleast i tend to think so..
wish i was taller... i would love to wear those.

I saw a woman wearing a gorgeous maxi dress at Starbucks today. She had her hair piled up, black sunglasses and a latte in hand. Then she got into her Audi and zoomed away. It was all very glamorous, I assure you!
