Easy Holiday Dessert Recipe: The Best Brownie Ever

Posted by Alexandra C. | Tuesday November 29, 201130 comments

I encourage cheating in two areas in life: when playing 'Go Fish!' and when baking (especially during the holidays). Just think: you're running around, decorating, cooking and you're not even finished your shopping and you're also expected to bake an amazing dessert? Do what I do, take the easy way out and cheat a little!

This recipe, for what I think is probably the best brownie ever, cuts corners by allowing you to use a baking mix for your brownie base instead of doing it entirely from scratch. If you are however, keen on giving Martha Stewart a run for her money, why not check out this forum on brownie recipes

This dessert is a decadent and indulgent treat- perfect for the holiday dinner or party! On top of your brownie base, there is a layer of peanut butter cups and peanuts and then a layer of peanut butter chocolate and rice krispies- ummm... delicious much?

This brownie is a peanut lover's dream and a peanut allergy sufferer's worst nightmare so becareful and happy eating!

What you'll need:

1 batch brownies from mix or scratch
1/2 cup salted peanuts (you can substitute unsalted by adding in a pinch of sea salt)
1 cup chopped peanut butter cups
1 3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
1 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 tablespoon butter1 1/2 cups Rice Krispies Cereal

Directions:

Mix brownies according to directions however, bake them for about 5-10 minutes less than directed. They should be gooey but too liquidy.

Remove and top with peanuts and chopped peanut butter cups, I like to stir mine before hand in a bowl to get a nice mixture of both throughout. Bake for 4-6 minutes more.

While they are in the oven, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter. Put in microwave to melt (yay, cheating!) for about 30-45 seconds. After removing, mix together to blend. Stir cereal into mixture.

Remove brownies from oven and evenly pour chocolate mixture over top.

I loosely covered my batch in tinfoil and set in fridge. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Tip: Use a square glass pan, I used a round tin pan and had trouble cutting my pieces out.

And there you have it- a fool proof recipe for amazing brownies with as little effort and time as possible!

@Bren581 SMART COOKIE- I didn't think of candy cane- yummm! I think if you go with candy cane, I would add a layer of peppermint patty chocolate layer instead of the peanut butter cups!

What a great idea to add rice Krispies and I think they come in a few different flavors as well...I think your idea of trying pretzels would be really good as well that is the one I want to try I think it would add this nice crunch to the brownie. For Christmas you can add ground up candy cane pieces as well.
