Prom Essentials: Must-Haves for a Night Out

Prom is a special event in anyone's life. But faded makeup, an oily nose or a chapped lips can ruin anyone's night. Plus while you're dancing up a storm, you're going to need a few tricks up your sleeve to help your makeup stay put! So we have come up with a few products to help you look and feel your best throughout the night.

1. Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy (US$30.00) is a pigmented lip colour with a glossy finish while still being soothing and hydrated. This means you can reapply for that perfect pout without overdrying.

2. Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets (C$8.49) are a savior for us at ChickAdvisor HQ. They absorb all that yucky oil and rid your face of shine for a matte finish.

3. Benefit Dr.Feelgood Balm (US$29.00) goes over top or underneath make up to provide a smooth, matte and velvety finish. A great item for touch ups throughout the night.

4. One of my personal go-to items at all times, is a concealer. I carry one on me almost everywhere I go for quick fixes on the go. I prefer a cream or liquid to a powder as powder tends to cake up. I recommend Covergirl Olay Simply Ageless Concealer (C$11.99) for your big night.

5. Set your makeup for the night using a setting spray like Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray (US$29.00). Mist on after you're finished your makeup to be sure it doesn't melt on you half way through the evening.

6. Mansfield 3 Piece Travel Accessories Kit (C$3.79) because bad breath at that very pivotal moment, is so not hot. Keep fresh all night long with travel mouth wash or toothbrush and toothpaste.

When it comes to handbag must-haves for a night out, remember that less is more. You don't want to be carrying around a enormous satchel on the dance floor. I suggest making friends with the travel size aisle at your local drugstore. Be on the lookout for double duty items as well. Try scoping out lipgloss/rollerball perfume combos or a balm that's also a gloss like our YSL pick.

Now that you've got yourself a beauty survival kit for prom, you're going to need an adorable purse to carry it in! I think it's always best to have fun and play around with your accessories. If you're going for a sleek LBD for prom, why not mix it up and add a neon clutch? Don't be shy when it comes to glitter either. My philosophy is: go big or go home.

1. H & M Bag (C$29.95)
2. ALDO Minshall Clutch Bag (C$52.22)
3. Forever 21 Glittered Web Minaudiere (C$21.80)
4. Zara Bracelet Clutch (C$99.90)
5. Town Shoes Red Carpet Collection Bow Clutch (C$59.95)
6. BCBG Olivia Metallic Clutch (US$128.00)

Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing sheets are AMAZING!
I've never heard of Dr. Feel Good Balm, it doesn't rub off makeup or change coverage if you put it on over your makeup??
I've never tried Urban Decay All Nighter either, it also sounds awesome!

And, ladies, if you're going to prom, don't forget some tissues!! :P
You wouldn't want any happy tears ruining your makeup :)
