Singles Awareness Day is February 14th

It's a love/hate thing.

If you are in a good relationship come V-Day, you celebrate this sweet 'n sappy holiday with your Valentine. But if you are single or newly so, it grates on your nerves. How do you deal with the gag-inducing Public Displays of Affection and borderline illegal price hikes on chocolate, flowers, and a nice dinner out?

Girls' Night Out
*Grab your other single friends and celebrate the day. Be the obnoxious foursome at the karaoke bar belting out old Madonna hits and chowing on your favorite snacks (do you really care about your diet on this one day?).

*Rent the sappiest chick flicks available and enjoy the fact you don't have to hear all the disgruntled groans of a beau. Eat Oreo ice cream and dish about your funniest and weirdest dates ever.

Girls' Getaway
*surf online for last-minute travel deals, or head out on a road trip. Be happy you don't have to answer to anyone about your budget or time away. Flirt shamelessly (but do behave!) with guys you'll probably never meet again.

Love your Friends and Family
*take this day to appreciate those around you. Bring Grandma some flowers and Grandpa some new fishing lures. Send fancy valentines to your nieces and nephews, and tell your mom how she inspires you.

Love Yourself
*treat yourself to one of those spa packages most salons are advertising, or relax in a bubble bath with a trashy novel. You can catch up on your Book Club Dostoevsky selection later.

Whatever you do, don't sweat your singleness. Celebrate it!
