I am finishing my last year in my degrees. My majors are General Humanities with English, History, and Religious Studies as my streams. My education major is English Language Arts instruction with a specialization in inclusive education. Upon graduation I will be certified to adminster level B assessments. I have experience both in and outside of practicum working with students who have a number of exceptionalities. Some of these are students with FASD, ADHD, ODD, Gifted, Dyselxia, and others.

I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta with my parents and one younger brother. My brother has always struggled in school and he is one of my biggest motivations for going in to teaching. Unfortunately, he slipped through the cracks and never got the extra support he needed. I want to do my best to be sure that never happens to any of my students. I know that each and every one of those children has something amazing and special about them, even if no one else sees it yet.
In my spare time I love reading. I mostly choose fiction novels but every once in a while I'll choose a non-fiction that looks interesting. I loved reading from the day I learned how. I found through high school and early university that was stamped out of me. By being forced to read long tedious books that had nothing to do with my interests I started to lose my love of reading. Luckily I was able to rediscover it while reading books for my education degree. I know many students go through the period in high school or university where reading becomes a chore, something they are forced to do. I want to make sure that even if there is some tougher material covered that students are still able to read for pleasure. I don't want to risk any student having to try to refind their love of reading later in life. I also want to help foster that passion for books in students who maybe haven't had the best experience with reading. Finding the right book, at the right level, on the right topic can really change the way a student sees reading.
