I bought this book after reading the reviews on this site. Its definately a great chick lit. I totally agree with Merri that I can't stand behind someone who cheats on her bff, and actually the entire book i was expecting the guy to pull a typical bad guy move and end up cheating both girls while maintaining his own "good guy" image. I'm still not convinced he is actually a good guy. I can't fault the main girl (Rachael i think) too much because yes she's cheating on her bff, but her bff is also cheating on her fiancee.. not that it cancels eachother out, but still.
The fact that the guy pissed me off, Rachael's subsurvient nature pissed me off, and most of the characters in general left me feeling disquiet .... these to me are still the markings of a good book. Because it makes you think, you're not reading it waiting for it to be over (because i just can't start a book and not finish it!). You're sitting there fuming, but reading, unable to put it down because you just HAVE to KNOW.
I would highly recommend this to anyone into chick lit or even into books that make you think.

This book really is a must read .. as someone else mentioned, its happy and sad at the same time. Without giving away the story; I saw this book as a big jigsaw puzzle, where peices were randomly put in their spots. So it is only once the book is finished and the final peice falls into place that you go Ooohhhh thats why he was bleeding, thats what they were hiding, thats where he went to, thats where he came from ....
I really can't wait until the movie is released!!!

I first picked up Confessions of a Shopoholic from Coscow thinking that it looked interresting. After the first two pages I realized I'd found myself in a book! I finished the book within the day and went out first thing the next day and bought every book I could find with Sophie Kinsella's name on it.
This book makes you laugh out loud, tense up, indignant, and even sad. It makes you feel like a young woman (at least it does me! I can sooooooooooo relate to Becky ..no pun intended lol).
This is chick lit at its best. I think Sophie Kinsella has just raised the bar and set a new standard for Chick Lit. I can definately see (am already seeing) other chick lits being compared against the Shopoholic series, and so far, even the really good lits I've read recently, are great, but just not a Shopoholic book....

Unfortunately this doesn't live up to the Shopoholic series, but being a huge Sohie Kinsella fan, it was a must read for me.
I have to agree with the others here and say this wasn't up to her usual standards, but it WAS a good book, and totally worth reading, and re-reading. I've read it once, I can see myself reading it again in the future.
The book was predictable, but also pretty satisfying (think power house of a woman getting her own back against the corporate mans world).
I would definately recommend this book.

I got this in the goodie bag at the shopcrawl night, and couldn't wait to try it out. I finally tried it last night, and then accidentally fell asleep wearing it (gross, i know, i know!), but I have to say it didn't crumble onto my cheeks or clump or flatten out even after sleeping on them! This morning my lashes look almost as nice as when I first put it on.
Pro's: This mascara really lengthened my lashses! I was very surprised, definately not expecting it.
It really defined each lash sepereately, and made my lashes look so much longer than normal. When I look at my lashes from the side (turn your head a little sideways and see your lashes) they look very long, very curled and no clumps at all.
Con: there's only one - the colour. Its black, but sort of slate'ish ..greyish ...wierd. If it was jet black it would have been AMAZING!!!

So my friend and I were in MAC checking out their cosmetics.... I really needed a face powder, but (in my very naive mind) I thought, "hey its face powder! i don't need MAC face powder, I already have several of their foundations, getting a regular drugstore brand should be okay" .... however my shopping buddy tried the shades on me until she found one that matched, and basically twisted my arm into buying it...
.... and i can't thank her enough!!! Boy was I wrong!! This powder covers so beautifully, I'm actually neglecting my MAC foundations because I just don't need them anymore! It completely evens out my skintone, and covers even tiny old pimple shades. It doesn't look cakey, or thick at all. It looks very natural without being too natural (hey if we wanted our "natural" skin, we wouldn't even wear this powder!), and flawless without being too "porcelein". I am brown, and no matter how much I match other brands to my skin, I either look a tad bit ash-ish (if the colour is lighter) or orange (if the colour is darker) ... with this powder i simply look like me. I have dry skin, but this powder doesn't dry me out like others do either.
This is a bit pricey, then again everything MAC is... however its very worth it, and I know I will definately buy it again... and again and again :) I highly recommend this to anyone who wants the coverage without the hassle of liquid foundation.

I've been using the Clinique 3 step system for a few weeks now, and have marked a noticible difference in the look and feel of my skin. It is very smooth, radiant even! I have stopped wearing foundation / powder because my face simply does not need it anymore. I apply some blush and gloss and I'm good to go..!!
The 3 step includes:
Liquid Facial Soap
Clarifying Lotion
Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
I've also added to that:
Superdefense SPF 25 (day time moisturizer)
Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer
All About Eyes (eye cream)
7 day scrub (exfoliant)
Each of these products are made in various formulae to custom fit each of our skin. My friend has combination / oily skin, she uses the 3 Step, I have dry skin and I use it as well. We're both getting amazing results.
I use each twice a day - when I wake up in the morning, and before going to bed, and started noticing a dramatic difference on the second day of usage! I have to admit, I've skipped many day and nights (in fact I didn't do it last night or this morning... oops!!) but skipping it once in a while doesn't seem to make any difference. You just get right back on the bandwagon and no one knows any better.
The clinique experts at Bay @ Eatons diagnosed my skin and determined which type of skin I have and what products it needs to look its best. They also call regularly to follow up and make sure I'm liking the product, that its suiting me, etc. I also get a free Clinique Facial which is valued at ....a lot (sorry, not sure how much top of my head)!!
The whole thing cost me about $250-ish, and in my opinion worth every penny. Our face is the first font we show the world, and with these results, its more than worth it.
I know I'll be sticking to this product for a very long time.

You get to pick four eyeshadows from a vast selection of colours, and get the case for free. Each eyeshadow costs around $4-something, so you get four shadows and in a box, for a bit over $20.
The colours are very pigmenty, they shimmer but not so much that all you see is white glitter and the colour itself is overpowered. I've worn them in the morning, and even by evening they're not creased, or melted, nor have the colours gone. It of course fades a bit over time, but so does the most expensive MAC or Lancome eyeshadow.
I've converted many a mac-eyeshadow-ers with this palette :-) myself being the first! I love MAC, Lancome, and Urban Decay is my other favorite eyeshadow makers, but I have to say, for $20, the qualty of this set can totally compete with any of the above.
I can't rave enough about these shadows, but really you just have to go try them! The worst thing I can say about this series, is it took me forever to choose the four I wanted to try first!! There are just too many choices! :-)

It doesn't tackle world issues or secret codes, but this is a gripping story that keeps you reading until the very end. This is chicklit at its best. Its about two sisters that show two different sides of womanhood. One sister, the flamboyant but vulnereable single, the other who apparantly has 'everything' - a great husband, a beautiful daughter ... and yet both are struggling with various issues and insecurities.
Without giving away too much of the story for those who've yet to read it, I liked how the book was narrated from each of their points of view. Although if you think of it technically, both sisters were sort of on the extreme side of the spectrum - one was very flamboyant very single and very man hungry, the other was very married, very bored in her marriage and feeling inadequate, unappreciated and boring. Single sister looking at the married sister, thinking she has it all, married sister looking at the single one and thinking how wide her options are.
Basically it gives an insight into each girls mind, and really shows how the grass truly appears greener on the other side.
Throw in fashion and hot guys, and there ya go, chick lit at its best ;-)
Even though I received this book as part of the CA bookclub, I would have totally bought it too, it was really worth the read!!
I've already read this book once over, and its on my self right next to my other favorite chick lits (like shopoholic). I can see myself reading this over and over...

I have the "juiced berry" which in the tube looks almost maroon in colour, but in reality just adds a mauve or plum sheen to my natural lip colour. I love this product, you only need a small dab to moisturize and add sheer colour. This gloss is always in my purse and goes with me where ever I go. Its one of those items that is a catch all for everything - not sure which lipstick / lipstain / lip-what-not goes with what you're wearing? Wear this, it'll go .. :) The only slight con, I have to be careful to not use more than a dab at a time, otherwise my lips feel very sticky and the slightest wind will make my hair blow across my face and stick smack on my lips, and of course when I move the hair away it will move across my face leaving behind sticky smears... -
