I bought LashBlast when it came out on the market and wasn't that happy. I found the brush bigger than needed and I thought it didn't make my lashes as thick as other brands. It was nice that it washed off easily and didn't leave dark rings under my eyes. The price point is good, but others in the same price range are more effective. Overall, I'd recommend it if you wanted just a basic mascara at a good price. -

z-tec is a new-ish burrito chain in Toronto. I've been to the one on King Street 3 times - so can't comment on my experience at the other Toronto locations. Their menu is the what you'd expect - burritos, quesadillas and salads. I really liked their chicken - lots of favour, but heavy on the onions. The "burrito bowl" is great and I'd highly recommend getting it. I found the burritos to be really big and I couldn't finish it - and they only come in one size. The atmosphere is nice and perfect for a lunch. Their service could be improved as there are a lot of people working behind the counter. Overall, I'd recommend it to friends but wouldn't consider it in the top 5 burrito places in Toronto. -

I've been to Hey Lucy about 3-4 times over the past 4 years. It's in a good location, but that's about it. They do have a long list of good martini's, but they're $12 each so not so good in the end. I heard last time I was there it's under new management (late 2008), so I hope they make some well needed improvements such as new seating, decor and updated menu. The quality of the food is just okay - I could make something at home for much cheaper and it would taste better. I've found service to be hit or miss depending on who you get. Overall, not a place I would recommend unless you're fine with spending $12 per drink. -

I think the bars are tasty, but when you read the fine print they don't offer very much fibre - only 5%. You get more fibre from eating a pear, which is better than consuming all of the extra sugars. If you want a snack and they're on sale not a bad choice. If you think you'll be improving your diet by eating one - not so much. I'd have to say in the cereal bar category they taste better than most, but don't provide you with the essentials the advertising totes. -

Ravi Soups makes the best soup and wraps I've ever had!!! They make them fresh everyday, so it's never re-heated and always tastes like something your grandma would serve. The soups are unique - not your average chicken noodle, but more like curried lentil and butternut squash etc.
The wraps are awesome too! They have this great free range chicken one with beans & squash - two things I've never think of putting in a wrap, but they're awesome together. The chicken is actually oven roasted - not a breast or deli.
Also, the owner is actually the person making the food so there is that extra touch added. The serve is good, but it's busy around the lunch hour with lots of take-outs, so give yourself some extra time.
Their lunch deal is a soup and wrap for $10.99. If you go on Friday between 5pm-6pm everything is 1/2 price too. They're only open Monday-Saturday from 11am-6pm.
Location: 322 Adelaide Street West (between Peter and John).

I've been using the Superfit foundation for about 4 years now - and love it! It's very light and doesn't leave you with that feeling and/or look of wearing a lot of make-up on a daily basis. If you're looking to hide blemishes you won't be impressed, but it covers redness almost perfectly. It does rub off a bit, but not as much as others I've tried in the past. Also, it doesn't leave me feeing oily after a full day of wearing it. -

I used Benefit BADgal Lash for about a week and ended up returning the product. I had high hopes for this pricey mascara, but was let down on one major front - even with good quality eye make-up remover it made the skin around my eyes darker than normal. I'm pretty handy when it comes to wands, but I found this one much harder than average to control. It wasn't the greatest at getting into small corners either. Overall, once it was on my eye it looked and felt nice, but getting there and removing it was an issue. For the money spent, I'd pick something else. -

I've been to Soho Dental once and since that visit have referred several close friends. Monica and Dr.Haji are very nice and I never got the feeling they were trying to rush me (I had several questions). I was impressed to see how they have a paperless office, very cutting edge equipment and would let me watch tv while getting my teeth cleaned. I've been to a few dentists in the past and Dr.Haji is by far the best - he provided interesting details along the way, didn't ask questions when I clearly couldn't respond and is an all around nice guy who really loves his job. Also, I was impressed that nothing ever hurt which can be uncommon at the dentist. Two thumbs up for Soho Dental! -
