I didn’t think I’d be the kind of person to get into cocktail smoking, but here we are—and I’m completely hooked. I bought a cocktail smoking kit and a smoking saucer set mostly out of curiosity (and let’s be honest, because it looked cool on Instagram). But after using it a few times, I can say it’s way more than just a party trick.
The first time I used it, I was making an old fashioned, and I tried it with cherry wood chips. The moment that smoky aroma hit the glass, I felt like I was in a fancy bar—except I was just in my kitchen wearing slippers. It completely elevated the drink, not just in taste but the whole vibe. It adds this rich, warm depth that makes even a basic cocktail feel special.
What I really like is how easy it actually is. The kit I got came with a torch, a few types of wood chips, and a saucer-style smoker that fits right over the glass. I was worried it would be fussy or complicated, but it’s pretty foolproof once you get the hang of it. The torch is fun to use (kind of satisfying, honestly), and I love experimenting with different wood flavors depending on the drink—applewood for bourbon, hickory for tequila, even a little mesquite when I’m feeling bold.

The first time I made it, I didn’t even tell my family it was a different kind of pasta. I just cooked it like I normally would—with a simple tomato sauce and some grated cheese—and waited to see if anyone noticed. No one said a word. That’s when I knew I had something good on my hands.
What I really appreciate is how it makes me feel like I’m doing something a little healthier for my family without making a big deal out of it. There’s 19 grams of protein in a serving, and it’s all plant-based, which is a nice bonus. It’s such an easy way to add some nutrition, especially on nights when I’m just throwing together dinner after a long day.
It does have a tiny bit of a different taste compared to regular pasta—maybe a bit nuttier—but honestly, it blends so well with sauce, you barely notice. And now I kind of prefer that little extra flavor. It feels more filling, more satisfying.

I picked up Catelli Protein+ Penne on a whim while grocery shopping, mostly because I was looking for a way to sneak more protein into my family’s meals without turning dinner into a debate. I wasn’t sure what to expect—let’s be honest, “healthy” pasta doesn’t always mean “tasty” pasta—but I was actually really surprised.
The texture is great. It cooks just like regular pasta, and it doesn’t get mushy or fall apart. I made a baked mac and cheese the first time I used it, and no one in the house noticed it was anything different until I mentioned it. That’s a huge win, especially with picky eaters.
What I love most is the protein content. With 19 grams of protein per 85g serving, it’s such an easy way to make a simple meal feel more balanced—especially on busy weeknights when I’m just tossing together whatever’s in the fridge. It’s also made from plant-based ingredients, which is a nice bonus.
The only thing I noticed is that it has a slightly nuttier flavor than traditional pasta, but it’s really mild. Honestly, I think it adds something to the dish, especially with heartier sauces.
Overall, it’s become a staple in my pantry. Since I’m exclusively breastfeeding, my pediatrician recommended a daily vitamin D supplement, and after looking around, I landed on PediaVit™ Vitamin D3 Drops.
First off, it’s super easy to use. Just one drop a day, which I either put on my nipple before a feed or add to a bottle if I’m pumping. There’s no weird smell, no strong taste (at least judging by my baby’s non-reaction), and no struggle to get her to take it. That alone is a win.
I also really appreciate that it’s clean—no alcohol, dyes, or artificial stuff. That gave me peace of mind, especially in those early months when I was hyper-aware of every single thing going into her body.
The dropper bottle could use a little redesign. It works fine, but I have to be careful not to accidentally squeeze out more than one drop. It’s not a dealbreaker at all, just something to be aware of.
PediaVit™ D3 has become just another part of our morning routine—simple, stress-free, and I know I’m doing something good for my baby’s bone health and immune system. I’ll definitely keep using it, and would recommend it to any other parent looking for a trustworthy vitamin D supplement.
