Should I Wear This: American Apparel Gloria V Bodysuit

I woke up Saturday morning (July 2nd) deciding that I needed a bathing suit. I trudged my way down to Yonge and Dundas for some much needed shopping, and somehow ended up at American Apparel. I was originally looking for this:

...a
Nylon Tricot Sport Chic Swimsuit (C$47.00), to pair with some simple navy shorts for a nice sporty look.

However, as I'm sure all of you have become victims of before, I got sidetracked and ended up with this:

...Something similar, but not a swimsuit.

Otherwise known as a Gloria V Bodysuit (C$55.00), this particular item has a gaping strip of nakedness all the way down to your hoo-ha. I went inside, gave one glance at it and it must have looked as if I was lusting at the body suit, because one of the salesmen came up to me, with these bright yellow short shorts and a wonderfully low tank top exclaiming "like oh my god, this body suit will look just SOOOOO cute on you with these (holds up super tight, super short, super green) shorts!"

I absolutely fell in love with this salesman, and decided to try it on. I came out, and decided that no, though it may have looked great on the hanger, short shorts are not designed for short stubby legs.

I tried it with a skirt though, or rather, I picked up a skirt, and matched it against the body suit only to have Mr. Yellow shorts shake his head and veto it.

We decided on a compromise. I'll buy the body suit, but not the skirt. I bought a similar skirt at Zara.

I came to work with the bodysuit and the pleated skirt from Zara (C$29.99):

Some questions while I was sitting at my desk, pulling out the tenth wedgie of the morning (as discreetly as I could):

1. Was this work appropriate?
2. I wonder if anyone else thinks I'm as naked-looking as I feel.
3. Was Mr Yellow shorts right? Do these not match?

I clearly need help. I paid quite a hefty price for this, and since it's not refundable, I need a good way to wear this!

Can you help answer some of these questions? Should I wear the Gloria V Bodysuit?

This is a cute look for a night out on the town. But this is totally not work appropriate in the least.

Looks nice and bold but totally not for a night out with the family or a date that is just a total oh no! I'd try it with high waist jeans and printed skirts...

I dont' think this is office appropriate at all! I guess it depends on where you work but if it's anywhere called an "office" then I would have to vote no.

As for whether or not the skirt matches, I would have to say no. It seems like it is way to heavy on the bottom and I feel like it's distracting from the top piece. What do you think?

Club wear not sure I'd feel comfy walking around during the day with a peekaboo flesh racing stripe. Just my opinion.

Wow, I think for most offices it would be a no go. A more creative office might be okay with such an outfit. Kudos to you for having the courage to rock this outfit, I think the skirt gives a nice balance. It's a very interesting play with a flouncy more conservative skirt with a black risque top.
I think a blazer would also be interesting to pair because even though you're more "covered" it draws attention right to the strip of mesh fabric.

@Becky OTK boots sound like a great idea! And I totally understand what you mean about the pants. They don't make it for people under 5'2!!!
