5 Surprising Beauty Myths Busted

Posted by Alexandra C. | Tuesday April 23, 20139 comments

Not too long ago, we discussed a few common beauty mistakes. I will shamefully admit that I was guilty of committing more than one of them. This got me thinking about what else I might be doing wrong when it comes to beauty.

Perhaps the beauty advice my mother gave me as a young teen wasn't actually as accurate as I thought? With this in mind, I set out to do some beauty detective work and found 5 beauty myths that you might be surprised to learn the truth about!

What beauty myths have you had busted? Do you have any beauty myths to bust?

I thought for years that if you trimmed your hair, it would make it grow faster! Bummer.

Oh I didn't know that about water causing most of dyed hairs fading. Very interesting!

It irritates me to no bloody end to hear totally clueless people say 'You must use a primer under your foundation. It'll wear longer, look smoother, control oil etc'. Complete BS. Especially when the primer is silicone based.

None of my friends believe me when I tell them that trimming your hair doesn't make it grow faster. I try to explain to them, why would cutting something off the ends make it grow faster at the roots? It's true that trimming your hair often makes it look healthier. My one friend is convinced that trimming her hair lessens the weight on her scalp so that's why she has come to the conclusion that her hair grows faster after a trim.

I'm happy to hear that plucking gray hair doesn't make two more grow back in its place, although it sure seems like it does. I always seem to find more gray hairs after I've plucked a few out. I guess I'll just have to blame this one on my kids from now on.LOL
