Tip Tuesday: Easy DIY Pore Strips

Posted by Alexandra C. | Tuesday April 23, 201320 comments

Blackheads? More like blarrghhhheads. No one likes when these little guys come around. Thankfully, there's a simple, inexpensive DIY to help you get rid of the nasty things.

What you need:

1 Tbsp Unflavored Gelatin
1 1/2 to 2 Tbsp Milk (in a microwave-safe bowl)
Sticks to stir with and apply

Here's the how-to:

Mix the gelatin and the milk together until you get a consistency like the one above. Add more milk if needed until you have the right consistency. It will turn to gelatin quickly, so be sure to mix fast. Microwave for 10-15 seconds and immediately apply onto face. Let sit for 30 seconds and peel off to reveal a softer, less blackhead-side of your skin!

Would you try this beauty DIY?

Anjanie777: I saw a vegan recipe using agar agar, go on pinterest and search "vegan pore strips" I think it used coconut milk as well, which would definitely cut down on the smell too!

I'm actually allergic to gelatin, I can't even take capsules. Maybe if this can be done with potato starch, or agar or something, I would try it!

I tried to find gelatin today at WalMart and they didn't have any anywhere I looked. I even asked about it, but they didn't have any. Does anyone know where else I can buy some? I really want to try this out.

This is an awesome idea! To purchase pore strips at the store is quite expensive. This is great!
