Are You a Guardian Girlfriend?

Are you that girlfriend?  Someone who will actually tell your friends the embarrassing things they need to hear, but no one else will tell them?  Sweetie, you look awesome but there's something... in your nose. I am that friend.  I always say, wouldn't you rather hear it from me then discover it in the mirror after being in public all day?

Angela Kinsey from NBC's hit show, The Office is Clairol's Guardian Girlfriend, that friend telling us when it's time to deal with our hair.
Ali de bold, Angela Kinsey
Kinsey, who is tiny enough to fit in children's clothing, was on hand at an event in Toronto to pose and discuss the need for busy women to go from drab to fab in minutes.  We don't all have time to pop into the salon whenever our roots decide to display in all their glory.

Still, many of us are nervous to dye our hair at home.  What if the colour I choose isn't right?  What if it damages my hair?  I can tell you from personal experience that as long as you are reasonably close with your colour selection, you will be just fine.  The Nice 'n Easy Colour Blend technology makes it easier to match your existing colour, by understanding that hair colour is multi-dimensional.  Your hair may be brown but within it are an array of different shades.  So as long as you choose a shade that is reasonably close, you can hardly go wrong.  I tried a root touch-up kit on my salon highlights.  Here is my review.

But it was not my roots or anyone's boogers that intrigued me at this event.  It was this shiny rich auburn hair, styled so nicely as seen on Clairol External Relations Manager, Manon LaPierre.

Are you jealous too?  Let's have a peek at the side.

Now before we get the claws out, though Manon did colour her own hair, she copped to having it professionally styled.  See? No one's perfect.

Let's turn her around shall we?

Très belle, n'est-ce pas?

Do you have a guardian girlfriend in your life?  Or is that your job and you wish someone would only do it for you?

I do have a guardian girlfriend in my life. As a matter of a fact she's bin in my life since I was born. She was my next store neighborer for about the first six years of my life then she moved away. I thought I lost her forever and at that age it was hard to believe that I'd ever see her again no matter what my mom would say I wouldn't believe her. How ever I had no idea that her mom was seeing my mom's brother while they were gone. They were married and moved back, well not right next store, but close enough so that I not only did I get my best friend back, she became my cousin through the marriage. We've bin together ever since and can tell each other anything, about anything and even if we think the other is getting a little chubby, or they do look fat in that dress, so try another, go get what ever that is hanging out of your nose out before someone else sees you.LOL
I was with her when she married the ass I told her not to and with her when she left him eight month later. I didn't tell her I told you so because best friend just don't do that to the one that's hurting, they help carry them through the hard parts, then laugh about it together when it's over. I was with her when she had her first child and she was right there with me when I had mine. Her mother was even my God mother, I say was because sadly we lost her to cancer last year and yes even though it was the hardest thing we ever went through, we did it together and continue to hold each other up today. I don't know what I would do with out my guardian girlfriend and I know she feels the same about me. We all need someone we can turn to in good times and in bad and she's my rock all the way to the end of this trip we're on called life. Love Tracey always have always will!!!

I will say something if my friend has an obvious problem - unzipped fly, bared pimple, tear in her clothing, etc. However, I'm too chicken to be honest if my GF asks "does this make me look fat?" If a choice of outfits is available, I'll push for the more flattering one but may do so by talking about how the colour suits better or the silhouette brings out other good attributes. I generally never talk about gray roots showing since, as a premature grayer myself, I'm quite sensitive about it and better believe I am FULLY aware of when my gray roots are showing. I don't need anyone making special mention of it!

I guess that makes me a wimpy Girlfriend Guardian?
