Fun Nail Trends To Try

Posted by Aliza | Wednesday July 11, 201217 comments

We here at ChickAdvisor love nails and nail art, but sometimes doing the same old classic red polish can get a bit 'ho-hum'. With summer here, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some fabulous new nail polish collections and some gorgeous colours we can't keep our eyes off of! Plus, if you're looking for some nail art inspiration, we've got a gallery of gorgeous styles. I think I can safely say that we nailed it!

Nail Art We're Coveting

We couldn't get enough of the Fishenet Tips (#4) that we saw from New York Fall Fashion Week at Joy Cioci. Want an easy way to get this look? Try this DIY video.  The flirty flower manicure (#1) was also showcased during New York Fashion Week by Rachel Antonoff.

Matte nails are still very popular.  There's something about a matte manicure I just absolutely love; like this one (#2). Or how about a mermaid-esque fish scale manicure (#7)? It reminds me of that story about the rainbow fish who used to have shiny scales and shared them with everyone! I think I see a DIY in it's near future!

Colourblocking is a hot summer trend in fashion and it's easily translatable for your nails. Just take a look at these geometric, colour blocked nails (#3).

The infamous Louboutin red bottoms are every shoe lovers envy. Is there a cuter way to profess your love for shoes than by wearing them on your nails (#5). Speaking of shoes, nothing says edgy like some spikes or studs on a flat or heel. Why not bring all that chicness to your nails (#8)?

Since I've introduced myself to you, you know I love animals, so when I saw this gold leopard manicure (#6), I just couldn't get enough of it!  It's so daring and dramatic!

The caviar nails (#9) are still a high trend this summer. We were so in love with it when we heard about it we did a DIY Caviar Manicure. Have you tried a Caviar Manicure yet?

I've seen these puzzle nails (#10) popping up on Pintrest and then I stumbled upon these rubix cube (#11) ones. I think they're super fun!

New Trends and Summer Colors Definitely Worth a Try

Neons are always in for the summer and OPI created a Neon Lights Collection (#1) that showcases all the fun neon looks for the summer in one package. This was Miranda's favorite pick.

This NFU Jelly Syrup Nail Polish (#2) creates a sheer polish that looks very thin and gel like on nails. It barely looks like there is polish on. Check out some photos here. What do you think about it?

OPI's new fall Germany collection (#6) has some great summer and fall colours as well as two fun glitter polishes with diamond dust infused into them (#3). These would look great as a full manicure or you could even use them as an accent colour.

China Glaze released their new On Safari Collection (#4) which contains a lot of bold colours. Alexandra loves their plum hues.

NARS came out with a polish collection in conjunction with designer Thakoon. Mandy loves the shade Amchoor in a bright, bold yellow. (#5). We also can't help but fall in love with the new NARS shade in Trouville. A feminine, seashell pink.

This Synchro Orly Polish is a part of Orly's Electronica Collection (#7). At first, it didn't jump out at me, but after seeing the pictures of how the polish looks on, I love it!

Essie's Matte About You (#9) is a great way to get a matte look or even try the matte manicure nail art shown above. Essie has some cute new glitter polishes as part of their new Mirror Metallics collection. The Blue Rhapsody (#8) looks really cute!

Nails Inc came out with these cute new polishes as part of their Special Effects Sprinkle Nails Line (#10) that reminded me of a cupcake. I can't wait to try them out!

Sally Hansen has a new collection called Magnetic Nail Color (#11) to give you a nail art look from the comfort of your own home.

What's your favorite summer nail trend? Do you like to mix and match trends or are you gonna be brave and try them all out?

THANK YOU!!! I've been looking for a brand that carried a matte top coat. I've heard of it but had no idea Essie had one.

Number 8 looks so cute! I wonder how long it takes to get the little pearly beads off...

#2 and #7 are nicely executed, but I'm not a fan of the rest... Too "busy" for me. I'm waiting on a nice selection of OPI colours I ordered a while ago in some fun summer shades. Looking forward to the bright yellow the most I think!

I've been dying to try out the matte polish. I'm usually not a fan of black but (2) looks pretty cool. Also love the puzzle pieces design. The magnetic nail polishes look interesting - it would definitely be easier to do than water marbling.

I love the 2nd design.. The black on black looks incredible. It's very chic, and would match anything. I'm also adoring the Louboutin nail design. I think I'm going to be asking for that next time in the nail salon!
