Trending in Fashion: The Peter Pan Collar

How can you bring an outfit form blah to ba-bang? How can you achieve a super cute and original look with just one addition?

Let me introduce you to the 'Peter Pan Collar'!

Designers have adopted the trend in their own ways with scallop detailing, contrasting colours and prints.

(clockwise from left) Keira Knightly models the Miu Miu printed and pointed peter pan collar. Louis Vuitton showed scalloped and rounded peter pan collars.

The peter pan collar has been rising in popularity for some time now. With some help from Hollywood's brightest style stars and with the variety of styles of the peter pan collar, it's hard not to jump on the trend bandwagon.

(clockwise from left) Alexa Chung pops her collar underneath a grey sweater; Emma Watson's collar complements her pixie cute and textured overlay; Hailee Steinfeld stands out in an embellished jewelled collar.

Rock the peter pan collar in a dress or top: either way, it's a fun and retro look!

So, a peter pan collar isn't your thing but you still love the look of one? Why not try a collar necklace? These options come in jewelled or metallic options that can take a basic outfit to the next level.

They're adorable, that's for sure, but what about the wearability of the peter pan collar? Do you think this look can be translated from the runway into everyday wear? Or do you think this trend will be short-lived?

I saw a post on tumblr a few days ago about DIY collars like this. I can't seem to find it at the moment but I will keep looking. In the meantime another tumblr I LOVE, Scissors and Thread posted about a DIY glitter collar, and I know how much we love glitter around here!

Omg the Miu Miu peter pan collar is printed with naked women... wtf? Wonder what the point of that is?

I do like the collar over sweater look though! Looks preppy and cute :)

I honestly think these are really cute, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to pull it off.

The Collar Necklace I like the rest I don't care for at all. I guess it would depend on whose wearing it, but its not for me.

I am loving The Peter Pan Collar trend!
Haven't bought or worn a top or dress with one, but I think it's a great accessory to the right outfit/look.
