Voyage to Titanic's Sink Site on 100th Anniversary: Respectful or Rude?

Critics are denouncing it as nothing more than "disaster voyeurism" and disrespectful to Titanic's victims, survivors, and their families. The organizers tout the occasion as a respectful memorial and say the sailings are nearly sold out.
What do you think? Is this a respectful way to honour the dead? Or is it historical rubbernecking for tourists and a cheap cash grab for cruise companies? Would you be interested in participating?

![]() | While they are probably using the celebrity of the Titanic tragedy as a way to grab some cash, I still don't think it's disrespectful. Every year people visit various war memorials around the world, Ground Zero, etc. to pay their respects and see a little piece of history, and no one says that is disrespectful. The only reason more people haven't already visited the site is just because it's difficult to get to! |
