When Life Gives You Lemons: 10 Fresh DIYs for Lemons

When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Not when there are SO many other, WAY cooler DIY recipes out there! I mean, why make boring ol' lemonade when there is limoncello to be had?

To honour this citrusy fresh fruit, here are 10 DIY's for everything from dessert to drinks to a few beauty tips and tricks!

Lemon Squares: I made these lemon squares last summer and they've become my signature dessert.

Lemon Thins: What's nice about this cookie is that it's light and excellent for a little post-dinner sweetness.

Lemon Soap: I've been loving the scent of lemon in the summer so this soap sounds like the perfect addition to my nightly bath routine

Limoncello: Limoncello is a great Italian lemon liquor. It calls for grain alcohol or 100 proof alcohol which isn't the easiest to find here in Toronto, but this would even be great to mix with with a regular vodka.

Lemon Cleaner: Lemons make excellent all purpose cleaners. You can actually just use lemon itself on stainless steel or combine with other ingredients like vinegar or tea tree oil. Check out some tutorials here and here

Lemon Rosemary Cake: This would be the perfect partner to an afternoon coffee for a pick me up.

Lemon Candle: Turn a lemon into a wonderfully scented candle. Not only yummy in the summer, but would be an excellent scent for the holidays.

Grilled Lemonade: This is an interesting twist on a classic!

Brazilian Lemonade: During the winter when I needed a touch of summer to pick myself up, I made this delicious and tasty bevvy. I recommend trying it with a touch of rum or tequila.

Lemon Exfoliator: Lemon makes an excellent exfoliator. Lemon juice is great for blemishes and for brightening skin, but combined with other ingredients like sugar or coconut oil (or both), it makes a great scrub. Be wary of using it on your face as your skin there is more sensitive, but it works well for your body.

I just love the scent of lemons!! I have a lemon tree, but it hasn't given me any lemons yet. I sure would love to give a few of these a try even if I have to buy some lemons to do it. I think its one of the freshest scent you can have in your home!
