Your Summer Pedicure Style + Must-Haves Essentials

Summer time means shorts, swim suits and sandals. Which in turn means shaving, waxing and pedicures. While it's nice to treat yourself to a fun and relaxing spa day every so often; it isn't always possible to make the trip. Which is where the at home pedicure comes in handy!

Creating a spa like atmosphere right in your own bathroom is actually pretty simple. Why not try and DIY some bath bombs? Then read up on creating the perfect bath over here! When comes to the pedi portion, we've already given you the low do on how to properly give your toes some TLC so we thought instead it might be fun to talk about one of the funnest parts of the process: the polish!

Before we get ahead of ourselves though, as always, before you polish, you need to prep. Take a gander at our DIY pedicure and then may we suggest some of these fine items:

1. The Body Shop Double Sided Foot File (C$5.00)
2. Fruits and Passion Deodorizing Foot Care Repairing Butter (C$15.50)
3. The Body Shop No More Rough Stuff Pumice (C$6.00)
4. Burt's Bees Peppermint Foot Lotion (C$14.99)
5. Dr. Scholl's Intensive Heel Repair Cream (C$15.59)
6. Sally Hansen Pumice Foot Polish (C$7.39)

Now, let's get down to the nail polish! With all sorts of beautiful polish colours available this summer, it's hard to pick which one to use. However, we're equally as lucky in the shoe department. This summer, colour is in! The fabulous thing about colour is that you can play on it and pull a monochromatic or a colour block trend. Why limit yourself? So after stumbling upon this article, we were inspired to create 5 colourful pedi looks with matching and clashing options!

Option #1: Green on Green or Green and Coral?

Madeline Girl RipRap Platforms (US$69.99) + Butter London 3 Free Nail Lacquer in Macbeth (C$17.50), Orly Nail Lacquer in Here Comes Trouble (C$9.25)

Option #2: Orange on Orange or Orange and Blue?

Steve Madden Sandals (C$79.99, on sale) + Julep Nail Vernis in Marisa (C$17.50), OPI Nail Polish in A Roll in the Hague (C$10.50)

Option #3: Turquoise on Turquoise or Turquoise and Pink?

Nine West Krysten Sandals (C$69.99, on sale) + Zoya Nail Polish in Lara(C$8.75), OPI Nail Polish in Fly (C$10.50)

Option #4: Yellow on Yellow or Yellow and Lilac?

Material Girl Shampine Wedge Sandal (C$34.11, on sale) + Nails Inc Nail Polish in Notting Hill Carnival (C$11.50), Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Jo'Mina (C$18.00)

My toes never match my shoes. If I tried to go all matchy matchy, I would been changing my toe colour every day, even a couple times a day.

At for products, I like the Dr. Teal's epson salts (Walmart). Comes in a lot of scents and lasts a long time. I soak my feet in a tub of luke warm water, with the epson salts, for about 15 mins. Then I scrub my feet with a punice stone. I bought one from Walmart for only $1.50. It is blue, however, the colour came off onto my feet. So for future reference, I would by the natural coloured one.

I'm wearing Opi: Nothing Kim-Pares To Blue on my toes right now its such a fun color.I love painting my toe nails because in the summer I always wear sandals.

I had the best pumice stone from The Body Shop years ago, it was shaped like a foot and was fantastic. when I Went back to get another one they said they were discontinued I have never found a pumice stone like that one again.

If I had to pick one of the above Id go with the orange combo I love those sandals!
