Winners is my favourite place to shop for fashion and beauty!! My favourite areas within the store, in terms of clothing, are the contemporary section (which has high-end brands for a fraction of the retail value) and the juniors section (for cheap/trendy pieces). The makeup area is often messy, because people open up packages and swatch the creams/powders, but if you find something that has been untouched you can pick up Sephora brands for a steal; think ABH, Nars, Stila, etc. It's the perfect store for whatever you're in the market for! -

I've been shopping at Dollarama my entire life. It's the perfect store if you're looking for something in particular, but don't want to spend a lot of money on it. I usually shop here for craft supplies, Wet n Wild makeup, and snacks (that I can sneak into the movie theatre, hehe). Their prices on candy and Pepsi are especially great! -

I'm a recent convert to Essie, but my collection has been growing rapidly (to the detriment of my bank account...oops)! They have a huge range of shades that mix and match with each other really well (I like pairing peach daiquiri with ballet slippers for a fun, girly look). Every colour I've tried has had excellent longevity and does not chip easily. Although I would classify them as my favourite nail polish brand, I have a hard time recommending them to others because of the stupid high price tag. $13 for nail polish is just too much! I've bought all of my Essie polishes on sale, and I would recommend everyone else to do that as well. Shoppers often marks them down to $7 or $8 (which is a fair price, I think), and they sometimes have them in their clearout bins for $3, so keep an eye out for that! -

I #gotitfree from ChickAdvisor in exchange for my honest review. This product is 100% my favourite from Neutrogena's pink grapefruit line. It's the one that I can actually see myself using every day and possibly repurchasing. I like that it comes in a tube so that I can use exactly as much as I want and not feel like I'm wasting product. The tube itself is really cute; I love the ombre pink! The cream smells great, too. It's the same subtle grapefruit scent that the rest of the line has. I like the texture of the cream. It's very soft and smooth to the touch, and it's gentle on my skin. When you massage it into wet skin, it thickens and foams up so you can get a really nice lather. I massaged it in for about a minute before washing it off and wiping my face with a cloth. My cheeks looked red for a few minutes after application, but my skin was instantly shinier and smoother. I didn't notice any change to my acne spots. My favourite part about this product is that it is quick and easy to use. While I observed similar results with the clay mask, this cleanser took a fraction of the time and had much simpler clean-up afterwards. -

I #gotitfree from ChickAdvisor in exchange for my honest review. I didn't have high hopes for this product because I tried the Neutrogena pink grapefruit peel-off mask the day before and was disappointed by it. However, this clay mask is excellent! I would suggest applying a thin layer onto your skin for faster dry-time and quicker clean-up. As with the peel-off mask, I am not a fan of the packaging that this product comes in. It's a single-use pouch, meaning that even though there is more than enough product to last you 2 or more uses (I let my mom use the rest), you have to use it all at once. This is wasteful and unnecessary; there is too much product in the pouch to reasonably use it for one application. It would be much more user-friendly, and environmentally-friendly, if it were in a tube instead, so you can use however much product you desire. I liked the colour and scent of the mask; I thought the bubblegum pink and grapefruit fragrance were fun and unique. I enjoyed how I could really see my problem areas as the mask dried down (there were little black dots on my cheeks and chin, where the mask was cleansing my dirty pores). I used a damp cloth to wash the mask off after 10 minutes, and it came off with no issues. My face was red for a while afterwards, but that could have just been because I was rubbing my face with the cloth. After the redness died down, my skin felt exceptionally soft and my face (especially my nose) looked shiny and clean. I think this is an excellent clay mask, but, again, the packaging needs some work! -

I #gotitfree from ChickAdvisor in exchange for my honest review. This peel-off mask left a lot to be desired. I LOVE using peel-off masks because they make for easy clean-up and you don't have to wash the product off your face afterward. However, this product was not one of the better masks I've tried. It came in a single-use pouch, which seemed wasteful to me because some of the liquid was trapped inside even when I cut it open. Perhaps this product would be less wasteful (and more user-friendly) if it were packaged in a tube instead; that way consumers could use their desired amount for each application. Despite not being a fan of grapefruit, I did really like the scent of this product! It's subtle and refreshing. I also like the colour of the liquid: bubblegum pink! Very Instagram-worthy, haha! It's easy to apply (just make sure to do a very even coat, otherwise you'll be left with gooey spots while the rest of the mask has hardened). I left the mask on for about 20 minutes, as per the directions on the package. There was some slightly unpleasant tingling/burning on the areas of my face where I have acne, but it was by no means unbearable. Removing the mask was fairly easy, too; most of it came off in one go, except for the areas where I applied too much (oops!). My skin didn't feel particularly smooth or cleansed afterward, although there was some dead skin that was removed on my forehead and cheeks. This morning, my skin doesn't appear to have improved over the course of the night. I'm really disappointed that I didn't like this product, since I love masks and I love Neutrogena! :( -

I #gotitfree in exchange for my honest review. I have a flaky scalp, so this product was a perfect match for me. After 3 washes, I really noticed a difference in the amount of flakes. I enjoy the scent of this shampoo; it's minty, but not overpowering like a lot of shampoo fragrances tend to be. I wish that it foamed up better so that I could get a nice lather. I had to use more product than normal because it's pretty liquidy and didn't foam up. My hair felt shiny and clean immediately after use, and it stayed that way until two days later (about average for my hair). I would recommend this shampoo to anyone who has a flaky scalp but doesn't want to spend a ton of money on salon-grade products. This one is great! -

I #gotitfree from ChickAdvisor in exchange for my honest review. I chose the shade "glow the distance," a metallic champagne. Firstly, I have been a nail polish connoisseur since I was a little girl, so I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Essie has always been one of my favourite nail polish brands, but the TLC line goes above and beyond. I love how wide and thin the brush is; it allows you to cover your entire nail in one swipe. It takes just two coats for full opacity. I wish that the polish didn't peel off so easily. The downside to how smoothly it applies is that it is not as long-lasting as their regular line. The main thing preventing me from going to Shopper's Drug Mart right now and buying every single shade is the PRICE. $14 for nail polish is just too expensive! That being said, if I ever want to treat myself, I know where to look :) -

I received this product for free from ChickAdvisor in exchange for my honest review (#gotitfree). I asked my brother to use it and give me his thoughts. We noticed that the men's Degree deodorant contained double the product compared to the women's counterpart, for approximately the same price, so the men's version is a much better value. He described the scent as "classic," but said that it was a bit too strong for his liking. I agreed; it's overpowering. He liked that it applied very smoothly, and didn't tug on his skin. However, he disliked that the texture was on the oily side. He plays hockey, and found that the deodorant was effective during exercise. In all, he said that it was "generic," but that it's good value for money. -

I received this product for free from ChickAdvisor in exchange for my honest review (#gotitfree). This is a good deodorant at an average price point. However, it's nothing special, and the deodorant I currently purchase, Lady Speed Stick, is still my favourite. Although the scent is pleasant, I found it overpowering. I didn't like how greasy it was upon application, and that it took a while to completely dry. Those who prefer their deodorant to go on very smoothly would appreciate this. Despite its claims otherwise, it did leave white marks on my black shirt, but they came out easily. The deodorant did its job, in that I didn't have a noticeable odour and did not perspire while wearing it throughout the day. The packaging is very attractive (I love the light blue-green!) and it looks nice on my vanity with my other beauty products. In conclusion, I would recommend this product if you like oilier deodorants and if you can purchase it on sale. Those who are sensitive to fragrance should steer clear. -
