Every now and then I treat myself to something completely frivolous which I do not need in the slightest. Anyone whose seen my purse (or make up bag, or desk, or bathroom counter....) knows that the LAST thing I need is more lip products.
However this one caught my eye in the store. I don't usually get sucked in based solely on packaging but my giraffe obsession won over this time. I mean look at this tube, its giraffe print!! How chic would it be, pulling that tube of gloss out of your purse? (The gift card I had for Shoppers didn't hurt either...)
Anyways, aside from being ridiculously adorable, it was called Pleasant Surprise. I was intrigued. So I read the back of the pretty little tube. Apparently it goes on clear and turns the perfect shade of summer pink. I was hooked. I put a little on the back of my hand and it turned a beautiful sheer pink. On my lips it turns a much brighter pink (that I was slightly self conscious about at first, I'm not gonna lie) but I got tons of compliments on the pretty shade. I've been excitedly applying tiny beads of it to the back of all my friends hands so they can experience the "pleasant surprise" for themselves. Needless to say, I'm in love.
It smells subtly sweet (like vanilla?) but only while you're applying it. The gloss is smooth and not sticky AND probably my favourite part: the pink shade sticks around long after the gloss is gone, and it looks like perfectly applied lip stain! Amazing! Its practically two products in one!
My only qualm with it is that I don't love the way it comes out of the tube. I don't really know how to explain this part but its the kind of tube you would get say a spot treatment or eye cream out of. It doesn't have a slanted applicator tip or anything like that, its just a small tube with a pin prick of a hole. (I know I am not explaining it properly but check out the pic I added) This makes it SLIGHTLY inconvenient to apply, but its so fabulous in every other aspect that I am willing to overlook this part.
Definitely check it out, and hurry because I think its part of their summer collection so it won't be around forever. Have fun!!

For a long time Olay Complete Lotion has been my go-to facial moisturizer. I have loved it for years and never looked back. However in the transition between seasons (here in Canada) my skin becomes temperamental: its rough and super dry in some patches while oily and breakout prone in others. I decided to go back to basics and use the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion that my mom has recommended for years. This lotion is amazing and turned my skin right aroundm; but it is SUPER heavy so I could only use it at night. I went looking for a product that would deliver the same glowing skin results but that I could use everyday.
That is when I found this lotion, Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 (I will NOT consider anything without sunscreen in it!) I have been using this product for several months now and I can safely say that my skin has never looked better. I feel a little guilty for cheating on my Olay like this, but for some reason I feel that Cetaphil is the better choice (after all, it is mom AND dermatologist recommended!)
According to Cetaphils website, "This skin moisturizer is lightweight, fragrance-free and suitable for use under makeup or after shaving". I agree 100%. It is super mild, does not present any problems with applying make-up over top, and it doesn't irritate my skin in the slightest.
My one tiny complaint is that if you get it in your eyes it stings (likely due to the sunscreen) which my Olay never did. However this is more a result of me being a dummy than anything else, so you really can't hold it against the lotion.
Overall it is an excellent product and I am definitely going to repurchase it when the bottle runs out (which is taking a long time I might add. I have been using it everyday for at least 3 months and its not even half empty yet). It is a little bit more expensive than say Olay but you can always find sales, and look on the Cetaphil website or save.ca for coupons (which is what I did).

I am a lotion girl. Really. Meaning, if I had to pick ONLY ONE beauty product that I could NEVER live without (including makeup) it would be lotion. That being said, I have tried a lot of them.
This one has got to be one of my favourites, alone with Herbiacin Kamille Glycerine Hand Creme for Hands, Olay Complete Lotion for face and Vaseline Sheer Infusion for body.
I have never come across a lotion that is so deeply nourishing, but that soaks in SO quickly AND doesn't leave a heavy sticky feeling on your skin. What more can you say? Its perfect!
And it doesn't have a heavy scent so I cannot think of one reason that anyone wouldn't like it. The price is a teensy bit steep but the bottle is pretty big and given that a little product really does its job, it is going to last for a reeeeeeally long time. (The cheapest I have found it is at Wal-Mart FYI).
Big big BIG thumbs up to this product. I think I have just been converted to an Aveeno girl for life.

This is a great product! I have no idea why I ever stopped using spray gels. They work VERY WELL!!! I like them as opposed to curl creams because those require that you run your hands through your hair, which as any curly girl knows, is not ideal. Spraying products onto your hair works much better because it helps to maintain your natural curl, without destroying it by running your fingers through it. Best of all, it holds like a gel, but because its sprayed on, it defines your curls without getting crunchy or hard. (Be careful though, if you apply too much it WILL get hard).
This products does all of the above. I have gotten numerous compliments on my hair on the days that I have used this product compared to days that I do not. I really love it, and will definitely be repurchasing it when my bottle is done.
Note: I recieved this product as part of my gift basket from Pantene and Chickadvisor for entering the First Reality Hair Star Contest. Although I recieved it for free, I would most certainly pay for this product in the future.

Usually I don't like mousse and tend to avoid it, but a while back I was in the mood to try something new in my hair and this 2.97 bottle at Wal-Mart was too good a price to pass up.
It should be noted that my hair can be really wavy or loosely curled, depending on the products I use. I tend to use curl creams and sprays to play up the curls and tame frizz.
This product works towards the wavier side of my hair. And I have to say I like it. I don't love it, but I wouldn't discourage you from buying it. It has a nice lavender scent and doesn't make your hair crunchy (something I normally despise about mousse).
However I find that it tends to be a little temperamental. Sometimes it makes gorgeous wavy curls, other days it doesn't look like I put anything into my hair, resulting in a hot mess. I would say the majority of the time it works, and maybe its just my unskilled hand when it comes to using mousse as opposed to cream, but I wasn't terribly blown away. (I should also note that the bottle instructs you to blow dry with a diffuser, something I almost never do. My hair looks a million times better when I air dry, so this could be the reason I am not in love with this product...)
But hey, for the 3 bucks, I can't really complain right?

In my experience spray on sunscreens have been a nightmare. They're sticky and smelly, and don't spray evenly. What's the point?
However this sunscreen changes all of that. It doesn't do ANY of the above. It is NOT sticky (my skin is silky smooth after use ... give it a few minutes to sink in though, don't judge it immediately), it doesn't smell at all, AND it sprays very evenly across skin (even at awkward angles as the bottle states).
I love this so much I think it just changed the way I think about sunscreen. I will be using this from now on. Its especially convenient at the beach when you don't want to get your hands sticky and covered in sunscreen and sand. Yuck.
I have it in SPF 50 but it also comes in lower and higher SPFs. Highly recommend.

I am a huge fan of Benefit cosmetics, but not such a huge fan of their prices. I'm generally a drug store vs. department store kind of girl, but for Benefit I make the exception. That being said, I save up all my Shoppers Optimum points to "splurge" on Benefit cosmetics. YAY
This is my most recent purchase, and I love it! I have had my eye on it (no pun intended!) for a while now and finally picked it up. The kit comes in 3 shades (light, medium and dark) and contains wax for shaping brows, powder for setting brows, tweezers, hard angle brush and blending brush. It also comes in an adorable little compact (Benefit always has great packaging but this one has got to be my favourite) with a mirror AND a little tutorial/lesson in the package. Awesome!
Words of wisdom: When I went to the Beauty Boutique at Shoppers Drug Mart I was lucky enough to get some advice from a girl who knew all about Brow Zings. She said in her experience it is a very dark product and that I should get the "light". Its funny because I had gone in there intending to ask if dark would be dark enough for my jet black hair, and was ironically told that I should use light. I was skeptical but she put it on me and WOW was she RIGHT!!! Anything darker than this would give a really harsh eyebrow look, and that's DEFINITELY NOT what you want. (A sad note for my fair skinned/light haired friends, this product might not be for you. It would be way too dark I think...)
In short, if you're looking for natural looking eyebrows and want a cute little compact that does it all, look no further.
I am very happy with this product and will definitely repurchase it when its finished (which will take an exceptionally long time I believe because you use so little of the product each time.) My only minor complaint is that the angle brush is not as stiff and I would like for defining my brows, and I may look into getting a stiffer brush for this reason.

I am having a love affair with this eye shadow palette right now. I have brown eyes and chose the corresponding palette. In my experience eye shadows in general are kind of a flavour of the month (slash week, slash day ha ha) but this one is different. The colours are so neutral and versatile I have kept it in my everyday make-up bag (as opposed to my going out/crazier colours make-up bag). I have been using it practically everyday! Never before have I had such loyalty to one eye shadow, day in and day out.
The four colours included in the palette are a slate gray, a lighter gray, a neutral beige and a coppery colour. I am in love with all four. The browns are great for day, the greys are great for smoking it up for night and they all blend together beautifully. The only thing I feel like it could use is a darker brown to do a brown smoky eye. I have been using another dark brown eye shadow to achieve this book, but obviously it would be ideal if this colour was just included in one handy little palette.
The texture of the shadow itself is very smooth, and long lasting. The colour easily lasts all day, which is a bit of a feat with my slightly oily eyelids.
It also comes with a small shadow brush (as in a real make up brush, in addition to one of the pitiful little sponge things that usually come with eye shadows). I am very pleased with this as well because it makes application easier than using the cheapie sponge one, and I can save the brush to be used exclusively for that palette.
These eyeshadow palettes (like other products in the Eyelights line) come in four colours: hazel, green, blue and brown eyes.
Overall a huge thumbs up. I am so impressed with this make-up – it was a very pleasant surprise!

In the summer I work in an office as a file clerk and being around paper all day my hands tend to get seriously dry. Its Hemp Hand Protector to the rescue!
This lotion is thick and luxurious. It gives my hands the extra nourishment they sometimes crave with the help of community trade organic beeswax and the essential fatty acids found in hemp seed oil.
It is slightly greasy on your hands at first but soaks in relatively fast. A huge plus is that it doesn't come off when you wash your hands!
Some have complained about the scent, and the fact that it smells slightly medicinal. While I cannot fully deny this I can say that the scent seems rather mild to me and I find the subtle earthy scent to be quite pleasant.
Overall, this is an excellent product that is well worth every penny you pay for it.

Words can almost not describe how much I love this product. It is a mineral shimmer powder that you dust on your face for that flawless celebrity-like glow (and not the faux-tan kind of glow, the luminous, healthy, too-good-to-be-true kind of glow!)
I have it in Feisty Redhead which is golden shimmer on the left, pink shimmer on the right, and two middle of the road shades in between. This makes this compact perfect for highlighting, cheeks, and even for all over your face.
I have been on what feels like an eternal search for a product that gives me this kind of luminous glow without looking fake and I can safely and emphatically say that my search is now over. I am in complete and utter L-O-V-E!
I have gotten endless compliments on my complexion since I have been using this product. I dust it lightly over my entire face after foundation, and apply a little of the pink shimmer on the apples of my cheeks for good measure. Without being too self-deprecating, my skin looks completely flawless without looking fake (Be sure not to apply too much though because there is a fine line between just enough and too much).
Highly highly recommend. (Did I mention that I love it?)
