The 2013 Emmy Awards recently took place and I guess, people won or something? There were gold statues given out or whatever? To be honest, I wasn't really paying a whole lot of attention. Can you tell? 

First of all, dude, awards shows are like, long. But more than that, I could barely keep my focus. You see, I am easily distracted by pretty things and there were many pretty things to be seen that night.

So many ladies knocked it out of the park but here are my favourite 10 pretty thing beauty looks from the night:


#1 Christina Hendricks

I think my favourite part of this look is how well her orange-red lipstick pairs with that ginger hair and those baby blues of hers. Her brows are groomed and frame her simple eye make up. The fluttery lashes suit the retro feel. 



#2 January Jones (top left)

How is it possible to have hair that shiny? Please, someone tell me. I love the deep side part and the large waves. As far as her eye makeup goes, I think I need to see a darker, stronger brow to really love it. Her two tone makeup is striking though, I think the red needs some softening up. 

#3 Claire Danes (bottom left)

I never though I'd say this, but this faux bob is working. She manages to make the look fresh and new. She's also jumping on the coral, tangerine lip bandwagon which makes a nice pop against her minimal makeup. 

#4 Ireland Baldwin (right)

What I love about this look is that it's age appropriate, sweet and feminine but it also has a bit of an edge to it. That grey-blue (with a touch of taupe?) smoky eye brings out the blue in her eyes and it balances well with the 'your lips but better' pink shade she's wearing. 
 
 
#5 Zooey Deschanel's Manicure: Zooey always has a great mani for the red carpet. Remember her tuxedo nails from last year's Golden Globes? This checker polish job was a fun contrast to her sleek, glam blue dress and looks easy enough to recreate! 


#6 Kate Mara: Gurl, who did this to you and how can I get in contact with them?! This hair is gorge. I love this sleek, high fashion approach. Notice that her brow is straighter? It's a nice alternative to the overdone arch. I love the neutrals on her and the slight sunkissed glow. (images via nylonmag.com, justjared.com)

#7 Cobie Smulders: There's something about this that just clicks for me. It's approachable, feminine, classy and just plain pretty. I love this hair length and the volume is beautiful. 


#8 Sarah Hyland: I am pretty sure this is fall personified. I'm obsessed with the deep raspberry lip and I adore that she's matched it to her nails. (images via huffingtonpost.com, becauseiamfabulous.com) 

#9 Allison Williams: If preppy/beachy/glam is a thing, this is it. She manages to look both laid back, casual and sophisticated all at once. I do wish they had done something a little more interesting with her lips, but this looks great on her. 


#10 Kerry Washington's Manicure: I know that there was some nay-sayers when it came to Kerry's outfit this year, but I think she looked like a fairy princess! And she had the nails to match. I've never loved pale nails more than when I saw this. It's almost like a watercolour painting. (image via justjared.com)
