Dara. Designs Flowers for Your Hair

| Monday November 17, 2008 Leave a comment

A flower tucked behind one's ear is a wonderfully romantic notion but not the most practical in reality.  Unless you have a beautiful blooming flower bed out your front door or happen to stroll through fields of wild flowers on the way to work, it's just not going to happen.  Toronto Designer Dara Frydman creates one of a kind head floral pieces that are too cute not to snap up.  Go ahead, wear a poinsettia on your head this Christmas!  Not only will you look festive, but fresh enough for a kiss under the mistletoe!

Dara was kind enough to fill us in on her blooming business and how she got started:

ChickAdvisor:
When did you start and what inspired you to do it?

Dara:
Since I can remember I would always get my hands into anything I could. In 2006 I applied my fashion knowledge and experience of all things crafty, and turned my passion into a business.

C.A:
How long does it take to make one of those flowers?

Dara:
Each flower, as with all my pieces takes lots of care and attention to detail to maintain a high level of quality. As with most things handmade, the time can vary.

C.A:
What has been the biggest challenge of starting your own business?

Dara:
My biggest challenge has been and continues to be balancing a social life with a hectic work schedule. It seems there's always an endless "to do" list and learning to prioritize can be difficult.

C.A:
What has been the most rewarding?

I bought this one in gray leather

Dara:
As much as there are tasks everyday that aren't the most exciting, overall working towards success in something I created, something all my own is a reward I embrace every day.

C.A:
What advice would you give to someone else looking to start something like this?

Dara:
Stay strong through the rough patches, because there definitely are some along the way. If you are passionate enough with what you are doing, you can make it happen.
