Easy Medium and Long Hair Tutorial: How To Create a Braided Bun

As we're moving into April, what better to celebrate the warm and sunny weather than with a cute and trendy up do for spring?

We love this look; it's part chignon and part braid, with a little rustic romance thrown in for good measure, which makes this hairstyle simple but elegant. It's best suited for medium to long hair and you may need a helping hand here and there but once you get the hang of this, it becomes a 'get up and go' type of style.

Here's the 4 steps to complete the look:

(1) Separate your hair into three sections. Tie a ponytail around the middle for ease. For my hair, I combed my front pieces back, you can also back comb your front section to add volume.

(2) Braid each section, on the sides, be sure that the braids aren't too far out to either side since your buns should be close, touching each other.

Tip: Try separating your sections themselves into two or more strands and first braiding those. Then, taking all the strands and braiding them into one larger braid. This works to add more volume to your hair and making it thicker and your buns larger.

(3) Roll the braid into a bun, going along and securing with bobby pins as needed. You may also want to try using mini claw clips

(4) Using the same method, roll each side braid into a bun. Don't worry about your hair being a bit messy or pieces falling out, this look is supposed to be more organic than polished. If you don't want your hair elastics to show, try tucking in the ends of your hair, into the middle of the bun.

Final Look:

We also tried out this style on Lorna's hair. She has finer hair which is a bit more difficult to work with, but it still looks gorgeous on her!

What hairstyles will you be doing this spring and summer?
