Spring Beauty Preview

You’re probably busy cleaning out your closet to make that seamless transition from winter wear to spring sundresses. Now is also a great time to clean out your makeup bag and since the Spring 2009 make-up trends blend simple with stand-out eyes, you’ll only have to invest in a few key items to get a flawless spring look.

This year's top trend is smokey eyes with tropical-inspired colors. Start with an eye primer to smooth creases and hold the eyeshadow in place, such as Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

Pick a light colour eye shadow for your base and apply from your lash line to just below your eyebrow. Follow with a blast of hot color:

*For blue eyes, try an electric cyan to make eyes appear even more piercing.
*For greens, make a powerful statement with neon orange or a bold shade of purple.
*Baby browns and hazels stand out with deep violet and bold pink (but: skip the pink on the lower lashline, or it'll look like an allergic reaction).

Some of the season's best combos come straight from CoverGirl's Blast Collection, particularly "Tropical Fusion" with bold blue, green, orange, and yellow. Easily change the shades by mixing with a hint of gray or brown shadow.

Make your own eyeliner to match your perfect eyeshadow - simply mix a tiny drop of eye gel, such as FACES Eye Magic Transforming Eye Gel with a small amount of your favourite eye shadow. Apply with a thin angle brush for a high precision liner.

Open up your eyes by using a heated eyelash curler and lash extending mascara for sultry bedroom eyes. ChickAdvisor members prefer L'Oreal's Double Extend Beauty Tubes.

Instantly update this daytime look for night time glam by rimming your eyes with a black liner and smudging it with your finger. Apply some false eyelashes with waterproof faux lash glue for an enchanting dreamy look that’ll have all eyes on you.

Cream, gel, and liquid blushes blend into skin better than powder giving you a more natural looking flush. Try a light hued blush this spring like one of four from Revlon’s Pinch Me Sheer Gel Blush. Next, use a big fluffy powder brush with a touch of illuminating powder such as Laura Mercier's on your cheek and collar bones to enhance your natural radiant glow.

Complete your Spring Look by keeping lips hydrated and extremely kissable with nearly nude lipsticks or lightly tinted chap sticks such as Kiehl’s lip balm with SPF.

Question....I am blonde with hazel eyes. Everyone says to use purple eyeshadow for a change...I've tried Lise Watiers eyeliner and am not a fan. Can someone recommend a good 'deep violet' eyeshadow for my brownies?

Thanks!
