5 Songs on My Workout Soundtrack

Posted by Cathy | Friday January 14, 201115 comments

When someone asks me what type of music I like, I usually say "anything that's good".  That's the only way I can sum up my taste in music.  I will blast Hilary Duff on the same day I rock out to old school LL Cool J, classic Springsteen or Rascal Flatts.

For the gym, I pick a playlist of songs with a good beat that keep me motivated to move.  Here is what's on my current workout playlist:

Strip Me by Natasha Bedingfield
This song is all about loving yourself, so it's perfect for motivation at the gym.

The Other Side by Bruno Mars ft. Cee Lo Green & B.o.B.
This one is awesome for cardio because the versus are slow and the chorus is energetic.  I use it as a guide for when to work hard and when to rest.

Walk Away by The Script ft. B.o.B.
Good song.  Not much else to say about it.

Hot Tottie by Usher ft. Jay-Z
I've always loved Usher at the gym.  His songs are fun and have a good beat to keep you moving.  This one is no exception.

Teenage Dream from Glee
Okay I get that this isn't exactly a pump-up song, but I'm in love with this version.  And hey, you can always use it during your Cool Down.

Did any of these make your list?  What do you listen to when you workout?

I haven't heard of any of these songs, honestly. I'm going to have to check them out! I keep my playlist full of songs that are really upbeat. I'd classify them more as "clubbing" music, than anything.

Cathy, may I have an example of "angry rap" please?

Cardio.... yuk. The only thing that makes cardio bearable for me is latin music. The only problem with that is that I find my hips wanting to shake while I'm on the treadmill... makes the speed walking and jogging look a little funky

I go with anything upbeat from Glee. My fave is "Don't Rain On My Parade" :)

Haha, yes this is true... we are 10 feet away
I think I'm going to download these songs for the bus ride to Burlington tonight

Totally agree! Especially for cardio, which I often find really boring, it's great to get lost humming the songs rather than staring that the time!

(I also love how this comments thread has become a conversation between the two of us and we are sitting 10 feet apart!)

They`re just fun! I think sometimes I get lost in singing the songs in my head that it make whatever I`m doing a little bit more bearable.
