8 Belted Wool Coats Under $200

Posted by Cathy | Tuesday October 12, 20109 comments
Winter can get pretty unbearable if you aren't dressed warmly, but we shudder at the thought of looking like the Michelin Man for the next few months.

We hunted and found 8 totally trendy belted wool coats to keep you completely cozy without the style sacrifice.  And the best part: they are all under $200.

Zara Checked Woollen Coat with Belt $159, Jessica Simpson Blake Oversized Collar Coat $124.99

Wool coats are completely timeless.  This year, pair your favourite scarf with a print or a bright colour for instant chic.

Target Merona Collection Couture Robe Wool Coat $69.99, Topshop Girly Ribbon Tie Coat $160, Calvin Klein Metlon Stand Collar Coat $149.99

A belted wrap coat adds sophistication and the "cool" factor to any outfit.  Our fave from Topshop has a fantastic ribbon tie around the waist.

On that note, if you own an unbelted wool coat, accentuate your curves by wrapping a long, thick ribbon twice around your waist and tie a bow at the front.  Et voila!

Jones New York Stand Collar Seamed Hem Coat $199.99, Victoria's Secret Wool Trenchcoat $129, GUESS Belted Wool Coat $168

Double breasted wool coats can be worn with anything.  We're loving the high collars Jones New York and Guess feature - sorta Janet Jackson in Rhythm Nation, agreed?

Are you wearing a belted wool coat?  Which of these would you try?

I love the Girly Ribbon Tie and the Jones New York Coat! I'm usually just wearing flats during the winter so it's nice to see coats that would look good either way, whether you want to dress up with some boots or just wear it with you daily flats =)

The Victoria's Secret coat is really nice! Who knew they made coats?

I think the one you picked, Lisa is the one that would look best on petites. Shorter styles are always easier to pull off. The one issue I find with short coats though is cold bum in the winter ;)

I am *dreaming* of a belted wool coat that doesn't make me look even shorter. Did you see anything out there for petites? I love the belted look, but the coats always run too long on me. The Topshop one is my fave.

I love the Topshop one, the Calvin Klein and the Jones New York. I have a coat but it is without belt. It's from Rudsak and I loooove it. But I must say these make me want one with a belt!

Aspasia - sorry about those links! These coats were on sale when we first posted this article but have since adjusted somewhat in price. We have located new listings for both that are better deals, but neither is below the $200 price point right now. The good news is that there will be sales again :) For now, the coat links you mentioned have both been updated here.

Of course my favourite of these is one that is NOT under $200!!! That Calvin Klein coat (my fave) is $325 according to the link you provided (and the Jones New York coat is $300). :( Are these coats available somewhere else for under $200?

oh kudos to you Cathy for writing this piece! I am looking for a wool trench (my other one bit the dust last winter). I adore the Topshop coat but have the same concerns as mamaluv above! My other question is...for the Calvin Klein Coat-where would I find that? Or how would I go about finding a store that carries that coat?

They are all nice coats-and even though I am not a fashion model, most of them still look quite good on (even if you aren't size 0)

Thanks for writing this-now I have some direction! Let the shopping commence!

My favourite is the Topshop coat tied with a ribbon, but think it won't stay perky like that and will instead crease into a ropey string? I love the silhouette though, so I'd look for something similar - perhaps with a reinforced ribbon sash. Liking the gray Jones New York also!
