A Tale of Two Sisters (and how you can score a home hair colour freebie!)

Many of you have guessed over the years since you’ve been following ChickAdvisor, so now let it be stated for the record that Yes: Ali and I are sisters.

We may come from the same gene pool and have an odds-defying amazing business relationship, but the truth is that we couldn’t be more different.  She was the popular one, I was the nerd; she’s a brunette and I’m the blonde; she’s a risk-taker and I always play it safe.

That might be why my hair adventures have been limited to huge ‘80s bangs and an ill-advised pixie cut (separate occasions, long since grown out and no—I’m not sharing pictures!), but Ali’s run the gamut of espresso-brown hues to Malibu-blonde highlights with a short stopover in what she’ll only describe as “Rainbow Brite”-red (and she’s not sharing those pics either, not even with me).   See?  Opposites.

One thing we do have in common—and not happily so—is genetically premature grey hair.  What started out as a minor annoyance quickly morphed into monthly visits to the hair colour aisle or salon.  We both fell in love with demi-permanent formulas like Clairol’s classic Natural Instincts line for its 10-minute ammonia-free formula, ability to boost our natural shade, up to 50% grey coverage, and gradual 28-shampoos-later washout leaving no visible roots to betray our little secret.  I was especially excited to hear about their Brass Free line: a godsend for all bottle beauties!

But you know, I’m getting a little restless.  Maybe some of Ali’s fearlessness is rubbing off on me (or maybe my greys are getting a little more presumptuous) and the temptation of big-badda-boom change is calling to me.  The newest permanent product from the Natural Instincts collection is called ‘Vibrant’, and that suits my frame of mind perfectly.  It’s time for something bold, something that’ll put my greys in their place—and hey, with 12 shades to choose from it’s actually a pretty safe risk, no?

Are you a risk-taker or a play-it-safer?

Clairol wants to help you discover what kind of beauty YOU are.  Head over to their Facebook page right now, “like” it, and then check in between May 13-15, 2011 because they’ll be handing out 75,000 full-value coupons each day which you can redeem in stores for the Natural Instincts hair colour product of your choice!

While supplies last, up to 25,000 boxes per day. Limit one per household or name.  Applicable to all Canadian residents, excluding residents of Quebec. Must be 18 years and older.

I can't wait noon to check it out. This is the first time I've tried get facebook giveaways so I don't really know what to expect but I'll follow takoda's instructions and see how it turns out :)

Yes, Takoda's right. You have to "like" their page and then wait for the giveaway to start. Right now the info on that page says 12noon Eastern (that's 9am Pacific, 11am Central) is when it begins. I'd strongly suggest you be ready right at that time because these coupons will go quickly! Even if it loads slowly or doesn't work the first few times you try, keep clicking. I've participated on other Facebook giveaways and Facebook gets really bogged down by the extra traffic so don't worry if it takes a few tries to get your coupon.

And if you don't get it today, there's always tomorrow and Sunday! Good luck :)

Go to their face book page at noon today by clicking on the link above. It's in blue letters and says Head over to their face book page right now. Then
log in and click on like. It should be ready then, at least that's what
it said this morning. Good luck.
