Andrej Pejic- The Prettiest Boy In The World?

Posted by Alexandra C. | Tuesday August 16, 20116 comments
It's hard not to be jealous of Andrej Pejic's full lips, smooth and flawless skin, long blonde locks and piercing eyes that give the camera a smouldering stare. It especially burns when you realise that the self proclaimed, "gender bender supernova" is a man and that he is indeed, hotter than you.

Andrej Pejic has modelled both women's and men's clothes on the runway and in magazines. In a Jean Paul Gaultier couture show for Spring 2011, Andrej Pejic infamously strutted down the runway, looking stunning in a wedding dress. From here, his career has only ballooned. While Andrej believes that his "gender is open to artistic interpretation", he has not had sexual reassignment surgery.

Most recently, Andrej was on the cover of New York Magazine with the title, "Male Model of the Year" and was touted as the "prettiest boy in the world". I have to wonder though- is this a one trick pony? Are we attracted to the uniqueness of his story more than his looks? Would you give him the title of "male model of the year"?

Oh my... I can't believe that's a boy. He's prettier than most of the prettiest girls.

No question he has aesthetic beauty. I wonder though if it's appropriate to award him "best male model" for work that he does in a female role. However, there are more transgendered and transsexual models coming out of the woodwork lately so I wouldn't be surprised if eventually they are evaluated as their own category. Apples to apples, you know?

I also find "prettiest boy" to be sexist and patronizing - but political correctness is not really a guiding standard in this industry anyway.
