Sweet Pleats: Ballet-Style Pleated Skirts

Posted by Siofan | Tuesday April 19, 201112 comments

These sweet pleats take their cues from the ballet-world in thin folds and light fabrics like chiffon, silk and polyester. Pair with a simple, form fitting tank to further the ballet feel; a tailored, sleeveless, button-up blouse and skinny belt for retro-housewife nostalgia; a blouson for twirling to '70s disco; or a long sweater (like at Rag & Bone) for a classic American sportswear look. While short minis are cute, we're finding the pleats more form flattering when they fall just above the knee or longer. If you're worried at all about how they'll look around your middle, choose to layer a belted longer top like at Trina Turk so that it covers your middle.

As long as you dont go too heavy on top you are fine with such a flattering skirt.
the idea of the skin toned undershirt and a great cropped jacket is beyond wonderful for a spring summer look that is fresh.

I like the short styles. The long ones look like the sort you'd wear if living on a commune of some sort.

Yes! It's the rear end that spoils it. Super cute on boyishly slender girls though!

You took the words from my mouth! I like it on the models, but any of us girls with a little bit of booty... it just doesn't work for us.

I want to like this look... but it's not quite doing it for me.
